PEIL FAOI 12: (i) Our U12 A team played brilliantly v Ballymac Blues in a great game that ended on level scores….2-10 to 3-7. Our B boys weren’t as lucky against the same club, Ballymac Golds….4-12 to 3-2. (ii) Our U12 Division 9 lads had a great outing v Legion on Sunday last i gCill Airne and everyone had a great time.
CAID FAOI 14: (i) Our U14B team added some more silverware to the juvenile trophy cabinet by emulating their A Team colleagues and winning the Division 9A county title last week. The Rock boys gave a powerful display of outstanding football and overcame a gallant Croke Club side….3-12 to 0-7….on a magnificent surface in the Ionad Barr Feabhais in Currans. Having hung on for a 0-3 win in the earlier league stages against the same opposition our lads took nothing for granted and got off to a flying start; they rattled off 0-8 before the opposition got their first score. The Killarney lads then applied huge pressure and created numerous goal chances but our backline, ably led by captain Roan Grattan and by fullback and man-of-the-match, Jamie Horgan, who was in outstanding form throughout, held out and scored 1-2 ‘on the counter’ and went in at the break 4-0 ahead…..1-10 to 0-1. Our top goal scorer, Dylan Cunningham, grabbed two quick goals early in the second half but the Croke Club boys again responded with 0- 6 on the trot before a late breakaway point wrapped up the scoring to leave the real Black’n’Amber as real winners….3-12 to 0-7!! Another great result for this year’s Under 14 panel! This group of players has now won 4 competitions this season….so far. An fhoireann iontach bhuacach: S.Conway; J.Slattery, J.Horgan, R.Grattan (capt); E.Barry, D.Kirby (1-1), S.Heaslip; T.Derege, A.O’Carroll; D.Cunningham (2-2), C.Kavanagh (0-1), R.Mulrooney (0-1); M.Lynch (0-5(3f), T.O’Carroll, J.O’Connor (0-1). Subs: S.Cotter, B.Nagle, D.Slattery, L.Flynn, P.Lane, P.O’Halloran, M.Carmody. (ii) The A team played Lios Tuathail (the Kerry representatives in the B section of the Féile) in Connolly Park on Tuesday last in a very worthwhile Féile preparation challenge game. Our lads did well. (iii) The Tralee District team was unsuccessful v South Kerry (that’s a lot of clubs!) on Friday last….3-17 to 1-8.Our Tralee lads challenged East Kerry last Wednesday. They gave of their best. Cé nár éirigh leo, dheineadar a seacht ndícheall ar pháirc na himeartha. Sin sin don bhliain seo i gComórtas na gCeanntar!
PEIL FAOI 15: We saw great displays of fantastic football given by our Rock lads in the MunsterSuperTouch Tournament last Saturday in Connolly Park. They won two games and were unlucky in a third. Wonderful football from all involved! They were/are a credit to the club. Opposing teams: Cordal/Scart, Keel/Listry and Kilrush (Co. an Chláir).
PEIL FAOI 16: Our hardworking players are taking a sos and a briseadh beag from training until after the Junior Certificate State Examinations….an Teastas Sóisearach. Go n-éirí go geal le gach éinne sna scrúduithe samhraidh agus sna scrúduithe stáit. Training will resume on Monday 17th June and the County League is due to start on the 19th.
CAID FAOI 17: Our U17 lads played excellently v Ballymac and v Castlegregory in Round 2 of the Kerry County Board 9-a-side football competition last week in Ballymac. They completed this tournament in Currans (An tIonad Barr Feabhais) last Friday with two games….v Gleann Fleisce agus v Raonaithe na Leamhna. These games were organised by Dónal Daly and his hardworking ‘team’ for players not involved with minor county panels (hurling or football), players not doing state exams and players not otherwise playing matches. They’ve been a great success, de réir gach dealraimh, and very worthwhile! Well done, all!
SCRÚDUITHE: The very best of luck to all Rockites who are facing exams. Do your best, stay as calm as you can, don’t be worrying and let the results look after themselves!!
