PEIL FAOI 12: (i) Alarm clocks rang bright and early on Sunday morning last and, at 630am, we hit the road for the annual Naas Invitational Tournament. What a day we had! We had a great trip, great games, lots of excitement and satisfying results!

Lá dár saol a bhí ann! In our first match we played against Oranmore Maree from Galway and, blowing the ‘bus cobwebs’ away, we came out ahead on a 2-9 to 1-6 scoreline. Tús maith! The next game saw us against the mighty Kilmacud Crokes and, after a titanic battle, spoils were shared…2-7 to 1-10.

The following encounter saw us against Cuala Kickhams, another of the famed ‘superclubs’, and, after some onfield positional changes, we finished well ahead…7-6 to 2-5. A super superclub! We excitedly awaited the final match which saw us pitched against the home boys, peileadóirí Nás na Rí. Many of our heroes were running on ‘fumes’ at that stage but dug deep into their remarkable character reservoirs to record a great 3 goal win…2-7 to 0-4. We came away unbeaten against some of the biggest and best clubs in the land…true credit to our young men and future ‘stars’! Well done, lads!!

Panel: Leon O’Connor, Max Nosidlak, Bao Foley, Gabriel Nosidlak, Fionán Ryan, Ben Murphy, Gavin Casey, Ryan O’Driscoll, Ronan Carroll, Jake Carmody, Rory Lynch, Jack Diggin, Tomás O’Connell, Johnny Dawson, Jay Sweeney. (ii) Our next challenges will be the upcoming Division 1, Division 1B and Division 9 league games. Chun oibre linn, a leaideanna!

CAMPA PEILE LÚNASA: The Rock Club August football camp will take place in Connolly Park….from August 6th to August 10th….agus beidh fáilte roimh an domhan is a mháthair.

PEIL FAOI 14: Tá ár bpeileadóirí ag tnúth go mór lena dturas go dtí Féile Peile na nÓg i gContae na Gaillimhe ag deireadh na míosa seo. The Football Festival of Youth is sponsored by JOHN WEST. Féile will run from Friday 28thJune to Sunday 30th June. Our boys are preparing diligently for their trip to Connacht.

PEIL FAOI 16: (ii) U16 training will continue every Monday and Friday and county league games will be played on Wednesday evenings. In preparation for our upcoming matches we played a great challenge game last Saturday morning v the Kerry U15 Development Squad and, even though we weren’t at our best, we learned a lot. Thanks to Wayne and Brian for obliging us with the challenge. (ii) County League fixtures for the A team (Roinn 1): (a) Legion v AdeS A. (b) AdeS A v Crócaigh; (c) AdeS A v Gleann Fleisce; (d) Laune Rangers v AdeS A; (e) Firies v AdeS A; (f) semi-finals [1stv 4th; 2nd v 3rd]; (g) final. Gach cluiche ag 7pm. (iii) County League fixtures for our B team (Roinn 7) 13-a-side games: (a) N.Mícheál/Faill Mhór v AdeS B; (b) Béal v AdeS B; (c) Teampall Nua/Snaidhm/Doire Fhíonáin v AdeS B; (d) AdeS B v An Ráth Mhór; (e) AdeS B v Laune Rangers; (f) semi-finals [1st v 4th; 2nd v 3rd]; (g) final. Gach cluiche ag 7pm.

RAILWAY CUP: What a pity that the Railway Cup hurling and football competitions have been sidelined and that the opportunity isn’t given to players from ‘weaker’ counties to win a national competition! Should not a Kerry hurler who might not win an All-Ireland senior medal be given the opportunity of playing with/against the best in the land and ofgetting a fair chance of winning an inter-provincial medal? Kerry’s Pat O’Connell, Brendan O’Sullivan, Shane Brick, Tom Murnane and Shane Nolan were on unsuccessful Munster teams. Railway Cup medals were won by John Joe Sheehy (the only Tralee hurler to wear the blue of Munster?), Billy McCarthy (’57), Michael Hennessy (’58), Richie McElligott (’59), Todd Nolan (’69), DJ Leahy (’85). Food for thought agus ábhar machnaimh!

IOMÁNAITHE CHIARRAÍ: Comhghairdeachas to the Kerry hurlers v Uíbh Fhailí i bPáirc Aibhistín de Staic on Saturday last.

NA STACAIGH SHINSEARACHA: Congratulations to Wayne’s Warriors v An Daingean. 2019 – Bliain na Stacach?
