SCÓR NA SINSEAR: ‘Well done’ to Aoife Ní Choileáin, The Rock’s sole representative in Scór, who performed very well but was pipped in the solo singing competition in the Kerry County Final ar an Aoine seo caite i gCorra. Aoife, a great performer with a wonderful singing voice, has won several county titles in Senior Scór.

The standard of singing and recitation was very high….nine competitors were listed on the clár for both disciplines. Great to see Scór back again. What a shame it would be mura mbeadh míreanna ag an gCarraig i Scór na nÓg.

We need a young singer, a 4-person table quiz team, a dance group, a storyteller/reciter, a music group and a ballad group to commence preparations immediately! Dúisigh, a Charraig!

THE ALL-STARS: Our All-Stars continue their Sunday morning session in Connolly Park. See you all, lads, on Sunday next at 11am. Gach eolas: ring/text Sandra (087-294 6658) or Sarah (087-281 0239).

PEIL FAOI 7: (i) Our mighty U7 peileadóirí will be in action next Sunday v Ardfert (weather permitting…last Sunday was a washout!). (ii) We will have our BIG FINAL day on October 22nd.(iii) Our U9 Thursday sessions have ended.

PEIL FAOI 9: (i) The much-looked-forward-to trip to the St Finbarr Club in Togher, Cork, will take place on Saturday, next, October 15th. At last! This is our annual pilgrimage cois Laoi (although we haven’t been there since 2019)! Good luck, boys! Enjoy the outing, the football and the comaraderie….an chuairt ar Chorcaigh, an chaid agus an chomrádaíocht!

(ii) The Bracker Regan Cup competition is the talk of the parish. Unfortunately we had to call off our semi-finals on Sunday last due to the inclement weather. So, we are going to have a football bonanza on October 22th….the semi-finals (Team C v Team A and Team B v Team D) and the finals of the Bracker Regan Cup competition. What skill, energy and passion will be shown by these boys!! Brilliant football will be played!! Beidh an domhan is a mháthair i láthair!

(iii) Our U9 Thursday sessions have ceased.

PEIL FAOI 11: More football fun for the U11s on Thursday.

TG4 – ‘CLUB’: Some of our young rising stars will appear on ‘CLUB’ on TG4 on Sunday 23rdOctober. Tune in to see some of our peileadóirí showing their football skills and to hear them ag labhairt as Gaeilge! An Charraig le Gaeilge!

PEIL FAOI 13: (i) We hope to give a big Rock welcome to the footballers of Carraig Uí Leighin (Carrigaline) on Saturday next, 15th October, and then give them a good game of Gaelic football! Carraig Uí Leighin v Carraig Thrá Lí….should be exciting! (ii) We had a great trip to Baile an Easpaig, Coraigh, on Sunday last and our stalwarts really challenged the Bishopstown boys! Our lads played superbly and had a great time. Thanks to mentors and travelers.

PEIL FAOI 14: Word should be arriving re date, time and venue for our Town League semi-final against Cnoc na hEaglaise. A free-flowing skilful competitive game is expected. Up The Rock!

PEIL FAOI 15: Good luck to our boys in the U15 championship which is taking place under the auspices of the Tralee and St Brendan GAA Boards. Competition sponsors: Suits Select. Fixtures….the Cup Competition will be played on Saturday next (15th) at 4pm. Extra time will be played if necessary; a winner required on the day…no replay permitted. Semi-final: Club Aibhistín de Staic v Club Chnoc na hEaglaise. Up The Rock! In the Shield Competition on Saturday next, October 15th, at 4pm K-O’R/St Pats will take on Na Gaeil.

COLÁISTÍ CHIARRAÍ – SINSIR: Tuairisc ó Adrienne Mhic Lochlainn: On the 5th of October Tralee CBS contested the O’Sullivan Cup semi-final against St. Brendan’s College. The match was contested in the Lewis Road pitch, Killarney. Weather conditions (some wind and a couple of heavy showers) were difficult at times during the encounter but every effort was made by both teams to play good football. The score at half-time was 0-4 to 0-2…in favour of The Sem.

A late 2nd half goal from the Killarney side gave them the win just as Tralee CBS had gone ahead and were heading for the finish line. Pipped at the post! The final score: 1-9 to 0-9. St. Brendans will meet Mercy Mounthawk in the final.

The Tralee side defeated the Rathmore Pobalscoil in the other semi-final on a score of 2-18 to 1-6. Our sympathies to the Austin Stack Club players on the Senior CBS football panel: Colm Browne, Enda Cahill, Ronan Carroll, Thomas Deregee, Damien Hogan, Seán Moynihan, Donnacha Horgan, Josh Lynch, Ryan O’Driscoll. ‘Well done’ to The Rock boys on the successful Mounthawk panel. Best wishes to them on the 26th October.

An Gaelcholáiste (Dáthí Ó Loinsigh): Tuesday morning brought the Gaelcholáiste U16 and U19 basketball teams to Oileán Chiarraí for two entertaining encounters against the home side, Coláiste Phádraig.

There was heavy Rock representation on both teams….obviously, those hard-won scileanna from Sráid na Carraige carry over to the court! Although it wasn’t to be for either side some astonishing flourishes of play left one hard-travelling Rockie team member to remark that ‘they gave a good account of themselves.’

Their display buoyed their confidence heading into a jam-packed second round of fixtures, facing local rivals An Fhaiche/The Green this Friday in what is guaranteed to be an explosive five v five encounter.

Gach rath ar these persevering talents atá ag dul i bhfeabhas rapidly as they gain their foothold in the county school basketballing scene! Go raibh an bua ag an bhfoireann is fearr!

Fixtures eile: U19E (Iománaíocht): Gaelcholáiste v Cnoc Síon, Port Láirge, ar an gCéadaoin (12úD.Fómhair). U19C (Peil): Gaelcholáiste ar an gCéadaoin (19ú D.Fómhair).
