AN RAIBH ‘FHIOS AGAT? Tom Moriarty, who recently passed to his eternal reward, was a Kerryman who played football for Meath. He was full-forward on the Meath Junior team that won the All-Ireland in 1952.

His displays with the Junior team earned him promotion to the Senior team for the 1953 Championship but Meath lost to Louth in the Leinster semi-final. He was full-forward on the Meath team that beat Kerry in the 1954 All-Ireland Senior Final. He scored 2 goals in the 1954 Leinster final against Offaly and scored Meath’s only goal in the All-Ireland Final against his native county, Kerry. (If only he had worn The Kingdom’s Green‘n’Gold!)

He was also on the team that was beaten by Dublin in the 1955 Leinster final. (Dublin later lost the All-Ireland to Kerry.) Tom subsequently lived in Wexford agus is ann atá sé curtha.

SINSIR CHIARRAÍ: Best wishes to Dylan, Jack’O and Greg in their next Green‘n’Gold outing. An Charraig Abú!
