SIOPA AN CHLUB: The Club Shop (Clubrooms, Connolly Park) will be open (for one night only) on the Holy Day (December 8th) from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Get a nice Christmas gift for your favourite Rockie – plenty to choose from and great bargains on offer.

CISPHEIL FAOI 12: Our very successful and enjoyable BASKETBALL workouts will continue at 6pm on Thursday in the Moyderwell School Gym, An Bóthar Buí. Keep up the fitness.

CORN DHÚN LÓICH FAOI 16½: ‘Well done’ to The Green CBS on a great 0-3 victory over Coláiste Bhréanainn in the semi-final of the Dunloe Cup (Kerry) Competition…1-20 to 3-11. A mighty win! The Tralee lads were 0-3 up after 10 minutes; Seán Quilter and Fearghal Ó Briain were among the scorers. The Green boys added a further 0-7 before half time. Scór leathama: 0-11 (CBS) to 1-5.

The crucial score of the game came in the 2nd half when the marauding Seán Quilter soloed from lár na páirce and landed the leather in the top corner of the Sem net. That put the Blue‘n’Gold brigade into an 0-6 lead which they held until the 59th minute of the encounter.

Eoghan Carroll was part of a rock solid half back line. Further upfield, Fearghal Ó Briain and Conchúr Ó Mír were in top form. A late shot beat an outstanding David Oba to embellished the scoreboard for a disappointing Killarney outfit.

The Green now look forward to a Dunloe Cup final on December 14th and a potential mouth-watering all-Tralee showdown with Mounthawk who’ll face Coláiste Phádraig Oileán Ciarraí in the other semi-final this Friday (9th).

SCÓR na nÓG: Best wishes to all the Kerry youngsters who will perform in the Munster semi-finals of Scór na nÓg in Cashel, Co Tipperary on Sunday next (11th).

FR HORGAN AWARD: ‘Well done’ to Donagh McMahon who won the Fr Pat Horgan Perpetual Trophy at the Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty Memorial Weekend in Killarney.

A schools’ literary competition was part of the event and a poem composed by Donagh was chosen as the best. The poem, entitled ‘Man’s Achilles Heels’, was on the theme of ‘humanitarianism’ Is scoláire idirbhliana i Meánscoil Chnoc an tSeabhaic é Donagh. The late Fr Pat Horgan was parish priest in the Church of Our Lady and St Brendan several years ago.
