PEIL FAOI 12: (i) Sunday night saw two excellent performances from our Black’n’Amber warriors as they hosted Dr Crokes in the second match of the Lee Strand County League. A strong breeze made conditions tricky for all players but, buoyed by the performance of the senior team a couple of hours earlier, every player gave of his very best from the first whistle. (a) The A squad produced an excellent display with a high level of work rate, support play and skill. We had 9 different scorers on the night and we came away with a 5-15 to 0-3 win. (b) The breeze was blowing straight down the Nuns’ field as our B team went into action and was a major factor in the encounter. Na Crócaigh, aided by same, were ahead at the small whistle but, following lots of positive encouragement from coaches Shane and Kieran during the break, our stalwarts came out a transformed Rock team for the second half. What a transformation! What a resurrection! Some great scores were notched from all angles as the deficit was reduced and the Killarney lads were overcome. The Rockies eventually prevailed on a 5-18 to 4-4 scoreline. A nice victory! (ii) Next weekend sees games against Laune Rangers and Legion and all are asked to maintain the excellent training attendance record.
