Austin Stacks CrestÉIRÍ AMACH 1916 – PROJECT: (i) We invite boys and girls from 8 years of age to 15 years of age to research and display projects on ‘The 1916 Rising’. The research work (written/printed/pictorial) will be displayed in the Austin Stack Clubhouse on Easter Sunday 27th March and winning projects will be chosen at 3.30pm on Monday 28th. Prizes include a tablet (wow!), a signed Kerry Jersey, a signed Kerry football agus a thuilleadh nach iad!! To register, please text entrant’s name and age to 087 7788589. Fáilte roimh chách! (ii) ‘Casement’s Last Walk as a Free Man’ will take place from Banna Strand car park to Casement’s Fort on Good Friday at 11am. (iii) At 7.30pm on Easter Monday (in Meadowlands Hotel) Tim Horgan will talk on ‘Forgotten Heroes’ and Brian O’Daly will talk and display ‘The 1916 Radio’.

DROICHEAD DE STAIC: Did you know that a bridge in Farranfore is ‘locally’ named (i mbéal an phobail!) Stack Bridge or Stack’s Bridge…in memory of Austin Stack? It is said that after it was rebuilt, it having been blown up, Austin Stack was the first person to cross it in 1917. Austin had been sentenced to penal servitude for life on 16th June 1916 but was released in ’17!

PEIL FAOI 6/7/8/9/10: (i) Outdoor football for na buachaillí Faoi 6/8/10 will continue on Sunday next in Caherslee…ag tosú ag 11am. (ii) Our first big trip of the year will be on Saturday 9th April when we’ll travel to Legion. A Léigiúnaigh, bígí ar crith!
PEIL FAOI 12: Under 12 boys will train on Sunday next from 5.15pm to 6.30pm i bPáirc na mBan Rialta, Connolly Park. These boys are already motoring well in the outdoor scene!

CAID FAOI 14: (i) The Under 14s will train outdoors in Connolly Park on Wednesdays from 5.15pm to 6.45pm and on Sundays from 4pm to 5.30pm. (ii) On Wednesday 30th March we’ll play our first County League match at home. Beimid ag imirt in aghaidh na Gaeltachta. (iii) County League information: (a) 15 a-side games on full pitch; 30 minutes each half. (b) 11/13 a-side games from 13m to 13m and full width; 25 minutes each half. (c) Full rules apply but kick-outs are off the hand and 13m from the end-line. (d) This will be for 2016 only and is introduced to help teams become familiar with Féile Rules. (e) Extra time (más gá) will be played in all play-off games, semi-finals and finals.

PEIL FAOI 15: (i) Our season begins in earnest on Monday evening next when the Central League ‘throws in’ with our Under 15s in action against Ardfert. (ii) We’ll be heading to Fermoy on Easter Saturday (26th) to retain a certain trophy! An Charraig Abú!
CAID FAOI 16: (i) Beidh traenáil ar an Aoine agus ar an Domhnach ag na buachailli Faoi 16. (ii) Our A team will be in action v Laune Rangers on Monday next. We wish them well in their first game of ‘16! (iii) Ár mbuachaillí ar phainéal peile Chiarraí Thuaidh (Faoi 16): Donagh Mac Mathúna, Dylan Ó Cathasaigh, Gearóid Mac Gearailt, Seosamh Ó Lúbaigh.

SCÓR NA bPÁISTÍ: Our Scór na bPáistí representatives in the county semi-final at 2pm in ‘Tinteán’ Theatre, Ballybunion, ar an 10ú Aibreán, are Aisling Ní Laoire, Chloe Nic Giolla Phádraig, Éabha Nic Craith, Chloe Ní Liatháin, Pádraigín Gutteridge and Cáit Ní Dhuibhir. Is é Mícheál Ó Murchú a máistir rince.

IOMÁNAITHE CHIARRAÍ: ‘Well done’ to our senior hurlers v Uíbh Fháilí. A mighty result!

CÁISC SHONA: Happy Easter to all our players, mentors and their families. Go easy on the Easter eggs! A couple of our younger players will take part in the Good Friday Pageant and Ceremony at 3pm in St John’s and later at 8pm in Castleisland. Worth a visit!
