SCÓR NA bPÁISTÍ: Quiz Scór na bPáistí!
PEIL FAOI 14: (i) Suits Select TOWN League (Division 1): (a) ‘Well done’ to our A team
that played away v Churchill on the 18th and had a good victory. An scór:- AdeS A: 5-20;
Cnoc na hEaglaise: 3-7. Panel: Michael Tansley (captaen); Seán Heaslip, Lúcás Ó
Cathasaigh, Seán Ó Muimhneacháin; Daniel Ó Ciarba, Colm de Brún; Thomas Deregee;
Aaron Ó Nualláin, Togor Siloem; Jamie Ó Sé, Noah Townsend, Paidí Ó Laighin; Séimí Ó
hÓgáin, Luke Mac Gearailt; Liam Ó Morónaigh. Fir ionaid: Marc Ó Cearmada, Rónán Ó
Maolruanaidh.

It was great to see Damien Hogan returning from a long term injury and he
gave a Man-of-the-Match performance! (b) Our next challenge was the Suits Selects Town
League final that was played on Sunday last (24th) v the winners of the Ardfert/Churchill
match. Our boys played fine football and gave a great account of themselves.
(ii) Suits Select Town League (Division 2): (a) Our B team took on the unbeaten Division 2
league leaders, Na Mistéalaigh B, on the 18th. The game was played in the ‘new’ Chamfers.
This strong John Mitchel Club side dominated from the start, scoring two early scores which
placed us on the defensive go luath sa chluiche.

Valiant defending, under intense pressure and
under the strong leadership of team captain Jamie Horgan, kept the Mitchel Club boys’ attack
to a single point for the rest of the first quarter.

Eventually, however, the effort took its toll
and, in the second quarter, we saw our opponents build a comfortable lead (that was very
uncomfortable for us!). Mark Lynch gave us a ray of shunshine le dhá chúilín ghleoite to
open our account. Following some positional switches, our lads started the second half
strongly and kept the JMC defence under pressure for most of the third quarter le dhá phointe
dheasa eile ach…ach…but our shooting left us down.

We were unable to generate the
necessary scores despite all our pressure on the Green’n’Gold defenders. Unfortunately for
us, the Mistéalaigh, after weathering intense Rock pressure, broke the seige, attacked our
hardworking defence and popped in another goal. Faraor géar, ochón agus mo bhrón, they
followed the goal with a string of points as our braves struggled mightily to save the
‘Alamo’!!

Best for The Rock on the day was our captain and MOTM, Jamie Horgan, who
courageously led by example and never threw in the towel! His great example of tenacity,
determination and fous was closely followed by Jack Slattery, Pádraig O’Halloran, Ciarán
Kavanagh and Mark Lynch. Despite a tough day at the office, our boys kept trying to the end
• and their effort and never say die attitude was a credit to them. With some more work on the
skills, boys, we will improve and will strongly and confidently challenge the best!! Beidh lá
eile ag an bPaorach!

An fhoireann: Steven Conway; Jack Slattery, Jamie Horgan (captaen),
Luke Flynn; Éamonn Barry, Roan Grattan, Ciarán Kavanagh; Adam O’Carroll, Pádraig
O’Halloran, Jake O’Connor, Dylan Cunningham, Barry Nagle; Shane Cotter, Tiernán Carroll,
Mark Lynch. Super sub: David Slattery. (b) Our B Boys played away v K-O’R last week in
horrible conditions. Strand Road started well and led by 0-10 at half-time…4-1 to 0-3. In the
second half, we scored 0-6 to their 0-1 but, faraor agus ochón, that wasn’t enough for a Rock
victory!

Scór deiridh: 4-2 to 0-9. Foireann na Carraige: Steven Conway; Seán Heaslip, Jack Ó
Slatara, Éamonn de Barra; Daniel Ó Ciarba, Barry Nagle, Ben Murphy; Ronan Mulrooney,
