PEIL FAOI 13/14: The U14 footballers had a wonderful ‘end-of-season get-together’ in the clubhouse on Friday night last for the Medal Award Ceremony. A huge turnout of enthusiastic players, dedicated mentors, supportive parents and adoring fans thoroughy enjoyed a really special Rock occasion.
Our outstanding Under 13/14 heroes were presented with no less than 8 trophies for the following achievements: Kerry Féile (Division 1), County League (Divisions 1 and 9), Central League (Divisions 1 and 4), Town League U14 (Division 1), Town League U13 (Division 1) and Rose Cup 2019.
A mighty haul of silverware! Our mentors wish to thank all the parents and all the boys for the great commitment shown throughout the season……..and what a brilliant season it was! And they say ‘best of luck’ and ‘nár laga Dia sibh’ to our older lads who’ll be heading upwards to be very important additions to the Under 16 group next year.
Wayne need have no worries about Rock talent in future years! Our dedicated mentors and bainisteoirí are looking forward to continuing to work with our class of 2020. An Charraig go deo…….with a 102 years of tradition….ag tabhairt aghaidh ar Bhliain 103!
NA MEÁNSCOILEANNA: (i) Iománaíocht Faoi 19: The Green hurlers had a fine 3-20 to 1-5 victory over Coláiste an Aonaigh, Nenagh, in a tough hard match at the Seán Finn Club in Rathkeale last week and they can now look forward to a Munster semi-final game v Coláiste Mhuire, Cóbh, on December 4th. ‘Well done’ to Luke Chester and Jonathan Lowe.
(ii) Peil Faoi 19: (a) The Green v Coláiste Chríost Rí game in the Munster Colleges Senior Championship (Corn Uí Mhuirí) took place in Fossa and our Tralee lads played excellently and had a good win (6-16 to 1-5). (b) Their final group game was v Coláiste Bhréanainn and was played in Connolly Park on Wednesday (27th). That game was to determine which of the two Kerry colleges would finish on top of the group and what a titanic tussle in an epic game!! Faraor géar, the Killarney boys pipped our lads by a mere 0-1.
The Green footballers are still in the competion, however, and they know what will be required to succeed if these two schools meet again (i gCraobhchluiche na Mumhan??). There was the usual strong Rock presence in this CBS side, among whom was Luke Chester, Armin Heinrich and Eoghan Carroll who ably manned the fort at the back. Conor Horan (0-1) gave a man-of-the-match performance, agus é ag imirt i lár na páirce, and Jordan Kissane, Cian Purcell (1-1) and Seán Quilter (an captaen; 1-2) made frequent vital inroads through The Sem defence. Others involved were Ruairí O’Connell, Ben Quilter, Tom O’Farrell and Niall Fitzmaurice (almost back from injury).
The Green, despite this defeat, will advance to the quarter finals in which they’ll play Bandon, Rochestown or Rathmore. Exciting encounters ahead! ‘Twas great to have our fine all-weather pitch in such fantastic condition in late November. Ardmholadh do chúramóirí na páirce!

SCÓR NA nÓG: (i) Guímid gach rath ar Ella Nic Gabhann san Amhránaíocht Aonair i gcraobh an chontae de Scór na nÓg i nGleann Beithe ar an 14ú Nollaig (Satharn). (ii) Good wishes also to our 4-person table quiz team in the Kerry county final which will take place at 11.30am on the same Saturday (14th) in Glenbeigh. The Kerry winners in the quiz competition will go straight to the All-Ireland final. Nár laga Dia iad uile!
