Now that the Under 14 competitions have finished, the busy Under 13 season kicks off in style. This Wednesday, 13th August, Connolly Park hosted a double header in the Bordcheantar Thrá Lí Under 13 finals when our gallant Under 12s, under the excellent stewardship of John Purcell et al, played the John Mitchel Club in the Under 13 Division 2 Town Final at 6pm. At 7.15pm our A Team took on Na Gaeil in the Division 1 final.

(ii) 2014 Oaklands Daybreak Rose Cup: This takes place next Saturday, August 16th, in two venues, Na Gaeil Club grounds at Killeen and Kerins-O’Rahilly Club grounds at Healy Park, Ballyrickard, where we will be based. We find ourselves in a group with Miltown/Castlemaine, An Daingean and Rathmore…all highly rated teams. The competition starts at 10.30am at both venues. Games will be 10 minutes a-side. The top two teams progress to play a cup or shield semi-final in Healy Park. Both finals are scheduled for Killeen at 2.45pm. Best of luck to both clubs on hosting this competition. Team mentors are Paudie McQuinn, Eamon Linnane, Gene O’Donnell and Dave Scanlon. All support welcome.

(iii) When this is over, attention will switch to our own prestigious Lee Strand Under 13 Invitational Tournament and this is scheduled to take place on the weekend of Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September….the weekend between the All-Ireland Hurling and the All-Ireland Football finals.

FAOI 16: Under 16 attention now turns to the Tralee District team which will have a good sprinkling of Rockmen! Our representative on the TDB selection committee is Éamonn Ó Raghailligh. Guímid gach rath ar an lucht bainistíochta is imeartha! Bordcheantar Thrá Lí has done well in this competition in recent years.

KEEN CAMPERS CAPER IN CONNOLLY: ‘Well done’ to all involved in our summer football camp. It was enjoyed by Del de Faoite, her coaches and between 110 and 120 fit, enthusiastic and happy youngsters. Thanks to Stephen Stack and members of his senior squad for attending on the final day to present medals, srl.
