CISPHEIL FAOI 11/12: All boys welcome to our BASKETBALL sessions in the Moyderwell Gym, Bóthar Buí, at 6pm on Thursdays. As ‘Star’ would tell us, basketball skills are very useful in Croke Park….or even in Connolly Park!

SCÓR NA nÓG: Our young Scór representatives performed well in the Kerry finals in Killorglin last Friday but, unfortunately, weren’t chosen for the ‘Munster’ round. The standards in music, singing and dancing were very high – Fleá Cheoil level – and our lads sang/danced among the best in Kerry.

Thanks to all who had a go in Scór na nÓg 2017, at district or county level, ar son an chlub: Ella Nic Gabhann, Cáit Ní Dhuibhir, Aisling Ní Laoire, Cloe Ní Liatháin, Pádraigín Gutteridge, Éabha Nic Craith, Cloe Nic Giolla Phádraig, Emily Heaslip. Buíochas, chomh maith, leis na traenálaithe.

FAOI 6/8/10: We look forward to our Presentation and Calendar Day next month. Meanwhile, boys, keep working on your skills at home!

PEIL FAOI 13: Seo iad ár laochra Faoi 13 who’ve ended a great season, having won the Town League, the Town Championship, the Rose Cup and the Lee Strand Tournament.: Brian McElligott, Seán Collins, Cian Dillane, Enda Cahill, Micael Lesniack, Leon Gallagher, Dylan Hurley, Kapan Carter O’Flynn, Kevin Barry, Shane Bastible, Conor Horan, Evan Foley, James Charles, Donnacha Sayers, Ben Quilter, Josh Lynch, Dean Rusk, Joey Nagle, Johnny Feeley, Gearóid Kilgallen, Donnacha Fox, Armin Heinrich, Rory O’Connell.

SUPER TOUCH: We competed in the Tralee Area Super Touch 10-aside Competition in Caherslee where our boys came up against a very determined Strand Road Club in the final. Winning at ‘the death’ by 0-4 to put us into the Kerry group stages which took place under lights in John Mitchel Club. We drew with An Ghaeltacht, followed with wins against Kenmare/Templenoe and Legion and then defeated Milltown/Castlemaine in the Final. We were ably led by David Oba, our captain. This has been a very good competition in preparation for the Town Board U15 Championship.

PEIL FAOI 15: Only four teams competed in this year’s U15 Town Board competition. Club Naomh Pádraig and ourselves were drawn together and Ballymac and Strand Road were in the other semi-final.

Our game on the Bank Holiday Monday was a repeat of last year’s Kerry Féile Final in Blennerville. This year, we had the experience and strength to win against a gallant Naomh Pádraig team. The Blues won their semi-final which set up a mouth-watering final last Friday night in Caherslee.

The Rock v The Blues! K-O’R came sprinting out of the blocks with two early points before our midfield took control and, from then on, the traffic flow was‘one way’! Joe Bastible had netted a ‘hat trick’ by the fifteenth minute.

Conor Myers (4-0) and Daniel O’Rourke (2-0) added to the goal count and finished the game as a contest roimh am sosa. K-O’R came out flying at the restart and scored 2-0 but points from Conor Myers, Daniel O’Rourke and Luke Chester were followed by a great Eoghan Carroll run that finished with the ball sticking to the back of the net. While the scorers deserve praise, all twenty players played no small part in this win.

Pádraic Linnane was, as ever, superb and Niall Fitzmauice and Adam Curran covered ever blade of grass ar an bpáirc. Luke Chester and Dara Barry Walsh didn’t give an inch in defence. A Shalemba came on for a Shalemba…both played themselves to a standstill and were a nightmare for the Strand Road midfield. Tom O Farrell and Cian Purcell supplied continuous quality ball to the inside line. David Oba made the saves when needed and Seán Quilter was unmarkable with his ‘trademark’hard running. Tough tackling by Craig Ó Tíocháin and Danny Draghici prevented waves of Blues from reaching our shore. Lovely support play by Charlie Curran and Greg Scanlon gave the opposition’s fullback plenty to do, especially with young Ben Quilter hovering around the edge of the ‘square’. A comfortable win in the end but credit to Strand Road who never gave up; they have some fine footballers in their ranks. Foireann an bhua: D.Oba, C.Curran, D.Barry Walsh, D.Draghici, L.Chester, A.Curran, E.Carroll, S.Quilter, P.Linnane (capt), T.O’Farrell, D.O’Rourke, C.Ó Tíocháin, C.Purcell, C.Myers, J.Bastible, N.Fitzmaurice, G.Scanlon, M.Shalemba, L.Shalemba, B.Quilter. That finishes our season and we wish the U16s the best of luck in 2017 with the Minors or the U16s. Keep up the practice during the winter months and especially while the weather is good. Go n-éirí go geal libh, a leaideanna, i scrúduithe na Nollag!

PEIL FAOI 16: Our final game of the season saw the U16s travel to Killeen in the Town Board Division 2 final. Having lost to our neighbours in the group stages by 0-6, our lads knew that they would have a battle on their hands. Níor chabhraigh cúpla gortú linn! Nevertheless the boys from The Rock gave a fantastic team performance with three U14s on the field. We were down…1-5 to 0-1…tar 15 nóiméad. Then we upped our game and were ahead at am sosa. Despite the Na Gaeil boys second half performance, in front of a large home crowd, our lads, pushed on to finish off the season in winning style! Captaen: Michael ‘Slatz’ Slattery. Scór deiridh: 9-11 to 4-14.
AN FHAICHE: ‘Well done’ to The Green footballers who gave of their best in the U15 ‘A’ Munster Football Final v The Sem on Wednesday. Imreoirí na Carraige ar phainéal na Faiche: Cian Puirséil, Eoin Ó hEilí, Lúcás Chester, Gréagóir Ó Scannláin, Jordan Ó Cíosáin, Conchúr Ó hÓráin, Ben Cuiltéir, Armin Heinrich, Niall Mac Muiris.

AIFREANN NA MARBH: ‘Well done’ to all involved in the Mass for deceased Rock people and especially to the members who read and took up symbols and to Fr Pádraig who officiated.
