10 Things You Remember About The First Day Back At School

Posted by

School’s nearly back! Gavin O’Connor looks at 10 things that remind him about the first day back at school…

1. As the summer ended you looked forward to going back to school. That won’t last long…

2. On the first day, your hand takes on a mind of its own as you attempt to use a pen for the first time in three months.

3. The first thing you get cracking on is the “What I did on my Summer Holidays” essay. Yeah, that’s right, the fun really is over.

4. The new teacher usually lays down the law. Hard, but not too hard, as he doesn’t want to look too desperate.

5. You receive your timetable which you will only get the grip of around the beginning of December. A few subjects will always standout; double maths and PE!

6. Choosing your seat for the rest of the year. If you’re inclined to head straight for the back seat, chances are you won’t be staying there.

7. One of the days you’ve always looked forward to? The first day you come in with a T-Square. I am the mighty Thor!

8. Tricks of the trade. Remember how you could get the teacher to finish up a bit early if you started shuffling papers and packing things into your bag with about three minutes to go?

9.  Remember this?

And this?

And this?

10. Above all, the first day back is a day of hope for the year ahead. All will be different, right? By midterm this is how you feel.
