A BAG-PACKING weekend, with family fun, spot prizes and a chance to win a trolley of groceries, will take place at Tesco in Manor West Shopping Centre to help out a little girl diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a very rare and aggressive cancer, earlier this year.

Chloe Jenkins from Cork (whose mom Deborah hails from Killorglin) received a boost to her fundraising campaign in September when Kieran Donaghy donated his Sky TV appearance fee for the All-Ireland replay to her medical expenses.

Since then, after completing six rounds of intensive chemotherapy, Chloe has undergone major surgery to remove 85% of the cancer, along with her left kidney.

The remaining tumour is entwined around major blood vessels and organs so cannot be removed surgically.  Radiotherapy isn’t an option for Chloe as she is only 22 months old and the fact that she has only one kidney.

Chloe’s only option was to travel to Germany for specialist Proton Beam Therapy that will specifically target the remaining tumour. She is currently at the Essen clinic being assessed and will travel back to Germany later in the month for several weeks’ treatment.

Tesco at Manor have kindly come on board to help them raise much needed funds by organising a Bag-Packing Weekend for Chloe.

Chloe’s family and friends will be on hand to assist shoppers pack their groceries. A weekend long programme of family fun is planned on this Friday (10am-8pm), Saturday (10am-7pm) and Sunday (10am-6pm).

Kids can enjoy face painting in-store too while a whole host of tasty treats will be on offer at a special bake sale. There’ll also be an exclusive Trolley Raffle where one lucky shopper will win a shopping trolley full of groceries and goodies and special spot prizes awarded all weekend long.
