SENIORS
Skellig Rangers v Ballymacelligott
Ballymac seniors made the long journey to Portmagee on Sunday last to take on Skellig Rangers in round four of the County League. Both teams were on four points coming into this round. Ballymac travelled down with a depleted panel missing many of their regular first team players. However great credit is due to the players that travelled and a great spirited team display saw them emerge victorious on a scoreline of Skellig Rangers 1.8 Ballymacelligott 0.13

Ballymac played with the aid of the breeze in the first half and the game was ten minutes old before the first score was registered by Aidan Breen with a point from play. The home side who were now playing a sweeper responded with two pointed frees from their corner forward Dara O Sullivan. This was the Rangers total score for the first half . Ballymac went on to score three more points before the short whistle. These came from Aidan Breen, Luke Sweeney and Eanna Reidy. Half time score was Skellig Rangers 0.2 Ballymac 0.4
Ballymac opened the second half in blistering form and kicked six points in the first seven minutes without reply from the home side. Five of these points came from play , scores coming from Aidan Breen , Vincent Horan, Christy Leen and two from Padraig McCarthy. The sixth point coming from a free from Vincent Horan.
Skellig Rangers introduced Ciaran Keating and this kick started their fight back into the game. They scored three points in succession , two coming from Dara O Sullivan and the other from centre forward Diarmuid Keating.. Vincent Horan increased Ballymac’s lead to six points with a pointed free in the fifteenth minute. Martin O Sullivan , full forward for the home side reduced the lead with a point from play. Luke Sweeney and Dara O Sullivan exchanged points and with ten minutes remaining there was five points between the teams.

Aidan Breen increased Ballymac’s lead with a point in the 21st minute . This was to be Ballymac’s last score of the game. The home side piled on the pressure which resulted in them been granted a penalty in the 23rd minute. Martin Sullivan goaled and this left just three points between the sides. This was reduced to two when Diarmuid Keating pointed from play. Ballymac were under seige for the last five minutes and did very well to hold on to their two point lead. The final whistle was welcome and Ballymac emerged victorious on a scoreling of Skellig Rangers 1.8 Ballymac 0.13

Jonathan Keane opened the scoring in the first minute with a point from play, Churchill responded a minute later. Points from Chris Leen and two from Daniel O Shea pushed the home side ahead. Churchill went on to score five more points before half time , four of these coming from frees from their corner forward Oisin O Brien. A point from Daniel O Shea put Ballymac four in front. For the next fifteen minutes Churchill completely dominated and scored five points without reply. With two minutes to the final whistle Patrick O Connor levelled matters for Ballymac. A point each from play , Ballymac’s coming from Gene O Keeffe left the final score at Ballymac 2.7 to Churchill 0.13

FAOI 14
Our U14a boys played in the Castleisland District League against Knock/Brosna last Sunday evening the 5th of June. We had a full panel of 17 present but our hosts however were only able to field 12 so we were required to do likewise. This may have been a fortunate turn of events as the warm weather meant we were able to roll fresh subs on/off throughout the game whist our hosts tired. The fresher players certainly made a difference on their introduction. And whilst the game was competitive in parts our ability to score goals was a telling factor. 10 scores to 9 at the final whistle showed not much difference in the chances created between the sides, but goals win games and we ran out comfortable winners on the night on a score line of 7-3 to 1-08. Well done to the players and the mentors. A good start for our boys and next up will be Castleisland Desmonds at home on Wednesday evening the 08th of June. Our boys will be hoping to turn over the result in the recent Eric Mason blitz.

FAOI 14 B

FAOI 12 Blue Team
Our Blue Team kept up their 100% record in Division 1A of the U 12 Co. League with a good victory over Kilcummin on Sunday evening last. They play their final game in this phase of the competition away to Laune Rangers this weekend.

Gold Team
Our U 12 Gold team had a one point victory over Kilcummin on Sunday last. Ballymac started the stronger and goals from Michael Prendergast and Niall Collins and points from Diarmuid Galvin, Sam Mansfield, Manuel Sanchez and a super score from distance from Jack O Connor saw us lead comfortably at half time on a scoreline of 2 – 8 to 0 – 3. Great defensive work in this half by Michael Culloty and Luke Horgan meant Kilcummin scores were hard earned. Early second half goals from Padraig Heffernan and Javkaloav Orgonbagor added to the Ballymac tally. Cian McCarthy, Raymond Lowe and Aidan Horgan were also to the fore early in the second half. However with such a big lead our lads became a little complacent and allowed Kildummin back into the game with goals which our goalkeeper Tommy Palmer could not be faulted for. However, we just managed to cling on at the end on a final score of Ballymac 4 – 11 Kilcummin 5 – 7.

CAILINI FAOI 14
Our under 14 Girls team played round five of Division two on Thursday evening in Castleisland Desmond’s GAA Pitch.
It was an eagerly anticipated encounter as Ballymac have had the edge in the recent encounters.

Ballymac played the better of the first quarter but poor target shooting saw them kick three wides while The home team got their first point on five minutes.
The teams went to a water break on fifteen minutes due to the hot conditions and it was Desmonds again who were most accurate on resumption scoring a further goal and two points before the break.
Half time score Castleisland Desmond’s 1-3 to 0-0 Ballymac.
First score in the second half was critical and the home team struck for a goal 30 seconds after resumption.Ballymac were narrowly wide four minutes later but finished to the net on 37 minutes with a high ball in from Caroline Hurley secured by Kate O’Connor and finished to the net with conviction by Aisling O Connell who must be commended for playing while obviously ill. Desmond’s responded with a goal on 40 minutes, Ballymac pointed on 42 Minutes through a free from Lisa Curran and a two minutes later from a well taken point from Caroline Hurley, the ball was dangerously played around the Desmond’s box on a further three occasions but the home team cleared their lines each time, that was to be the end of Ballymacs scoring in the match but the girls contested every ball to the end, Desmonds ran out Convincing winners on a scoreline of 4:11 to 1:2
While the game did not go our way the game gave the opportunity to give some of the younger girls Match time with Feile just around the corner.

Most notable on the night were Sinead McKeown for Ballymac & Sadbh Prendiville for Desmond’s both of whom who gave a master class in football and were a joy to watch.
