FAOI 11

We played our last game of U11 Coiste Tra Lí League against Austin Stacks last Thursday evening in Connolly Park. This turned out to be a cracking game of pure attacking football from both sides and was a joy to watch.

Great credit must also be given to Coiste Tra Lí for organising this competition which all games were played in the true spirit of the Go Games format with all players getting plenty of time on the field.

On behalf of Jack Culloty, Fintan Kelly & Jer Lynch we would like to thank all the players for their commitment for this competition.

FAOI 12: Ballymac Gold Team 3-15 An Ghaeltacht 4-05

We made the long journey back west last Monday evening and after a tough game on the night we came away with a great victory. We were six points up at half time and facing into a strong wind in the second half, when the locals came out with all guns blazing and quickly took the lead.

Our lads now were defending with all their might and great credit must be given to our squad who never gave up and with a number of quick breaks we took the lead again with ten minutes to go and ran out winners. This was a great result as we have won two out two in Div 1 of Central Region. We were at home to Na Gaeil last Monday evening and a report will be in next weeks notes.

FAOI 12 (A) Central region Division 1 U12A. Gaeltacht 4-12 Ballymac 2-10.

Played on Monday the 18th the boys got their first taste of football at the Gallurus pitch and found the element difficult to contend with. We played against the stiff sea breeze in the first half and scores were hard to come by. Gaeltacht mid field were dominating and our defence were under constant pressure.

Ciaran Brosnan had a huge game and suppressed many Gaeltacht attacks and indeed drove forward on a number of occasions. Gaeltacht lead 3-9 to 0-4 at the break. We had the aid of the breeze in the second half and it showed. The lads played far better and got well into the game taking some lovely points.

Our first goal came about through Gaeltacht misfortune whilst our second was taken by Ciaran Brosnan. The game was in the melting pot but the lads had left themselves too much to do and also ran out of steam in their efforts to reel the Gaeltacht lead in. The West Kerry lads finished strong to take the win. A reasonable showing from our boys who now know the standards they have to achieve if they are to succeed in division 1.
