SENIOR TEAM

Ballymac seniors traveled to Templenoe last Saturday to take on the home side in the penultimate round of the county league.Templenoe were top of Division 3 and a win would promote them as champions. The home side were first to settle and had three points on the board in the first five minutes. Ballymac opened their scoring in the 8th minute with a point from a free from Padraig McCarthy. This was followed with a point from play by Cian Counihan. The home side responded with a point from play by Denis O Neill. Padraig McCarthy added three more points from frees for the visitors. Shane Cremin and Daniel O Shea exchanged points before half time leaving the score at half time — Templenoe 0.5 to Ballymac 0.6

The home side started the second half like they finished the first. Four points within the first 5 minutes from Cian Hallisey , Sean Sheehan , Cillian Spillane and Brian Crowley pushed Templenoe 3 points clear. BALLYMAC 5-14 AUSTIN STACKS B 2-8

Stacks B were our opponents in the semi final of the Coiste Tra-li league at Connolly Park. We got off to a good start James McDonnell finding the net having taken a pass from Cillian Gallagher. Barry Lyons added three more points and a fine point by Cillian. Stacks were busy too scoring three points while our passing game was causing us problems Dara Keane squeezed through for a goal but stacks replied with three more points. James got our final two points of the half while stacks goaled with a minute to go to leave the half time score 2-6 to 1-6 in our favour.

A long range point by Tadhg Brick and two points by Daire Keane gave us a six point lead. Brian Lonergan was called onto make a fine save but minutes later stacks somehow got through for a goal and another point. Subs Dara Chawke and Darragh Broderick were making their presence felt and Liam O’Brien ,Cathal Dunne, Dara Leen and Josh were tying up the stacks forwards. A point each by Dara Chawke and Daire Keane was followed by a few missed gaoling chances.

The goals eventually arrived from Daire Keane and James McDonnell who had his best game of the season. When Barry goaled again from Dara Chawke’s pass there was no way back for Stacks. Points from Dara Chawke, Daire Keane and Ciaran Nolan finished our scoring. We now play John Mitchels in the final of this competition at a later date.

UNDER 10 CASTLESLAND DISTRICT BLITZ

Ballymac hosted the Annual Castleisland District Blitz on Saturday morning last. We entered two teams, our U9’s were unlucky not to win one of their first two games against Currow and Cordal loosing both by a couple of points. In their final group game the eventual winners Knocknagoshel proved too strong for us. Players to shine were Evan Boyle, Jack O Connor, Tommy Palmer and Diarmuid Galvin.

Our U10’s qualified for the final with victories over Desmonds, Scartaglin and Currow. In the final they had an epic tussle with a well drilled Knocknagoshel side, with never more than a kick of a ball between the teams. At the final whistle it was the Knock team who were celebrating following their two point victory. Mossie Brennan, Donal Daly, James Kenny and Eoin Creedon were amongst those who excelled on the day for us.

SIOBHAN COTTER BLITZ

The Annual Siobhan Cotter Blitz hosted by Churchill GAA Club is due to be held on Sunday October 12th. Our U8’s and 10’s boys will be travelling to this annual event hoping to retain the Siobhan Cotter trophy which they won last year.
