St Kieran’s Leisure Cycle Tour on July 20th.

The St Kieran’s district has a fund raising Cycle Tour on July 20th. There is a short route of 45km and a longer route of 80Km for the more ambitious cyclists. The routes go through all seven clubs geographical areas, starting in Castleisland Desmonds pitch and taking in Ballymac;Currow;Scataglin;Cordal;Brosna and Knocknagoshel and finishing in Castleisland.

Registration is open on Saturday evening July 19th at Desmonds pitch between 7 and 9 pm and on Sunday morning the 20th between 8 and 9:45AM. It is a good idea to register on the Saturday evening to avoid the rush on Sunday.

The Tour starts at 10 am and has a full safety plan and stewarding process in place for the routes and refreshments on the day. Entry fee is €25 and €20 for Cycle Ireland members. Juveniles get going for €10 but must be accompanied by an adult. See Stkierans.ie for the map of the routes and for further details.

BALLYMAC 5-18 LAUNE RANGERS B 8-6

We played Laune Rangers B at home in the central division on Monday 30th in what was definitely a game of two halves .Rangers started in fine style gaoling inside two minutes.

Ballymac then took over and goals from Dara Chawke and Cillian Gallagher coupled with points form Daire Keane,(0-4) Cillian, Davy Rodgers and Tadhg Brick(0-2) had us 2-8 to 1-0 ahead midway through the half.

Cillian scored another 1-1 and points from Liam O’Brien, James Carmody, Dara Chawke and D Rodgers had us 3-13 to 2-0 ahead at the break.

Rangers, who travelled with a big squad, introduced some subs at half time, and these had a telling impact on the game. They goaled immediately on the restart and any thoughts we had of winning easily quickly vanished. They added another 2-4 to cut the gap to 3 points at the midway point.

Two points each from Cillian and Dara Keane extended our lead , but Rangers replied with 2-1 to level the scores. A well taken goal by Josh lifted the siege, followed by a Davy Rodgers point and Daire Keane goal. Rangers again replied with 1-1 ,but thankfully there was no more time left and we held on to win by 3 points.
