CLUB AGM

The AGM of Ballymac GAA Club will be held on Sunday 15th January in the Club rooms at 2.00pm.  Members are asked to note that this is a change for the previously advertised date.

STRICTLY COME DANCING
With the performance date of Saturday 11th February just over a month away excitement is beginning to build for the second Ballymac GAA Club Strictly Come Dancing event in Ballygarry House.

Our dancers are back in rehearsals with Honor Hurley after the Christmas Break.  Tickets will go on sale shortly so keep an eye on the Club Website, Facebook page and Club notes for outlets where they will be available.  It is advised to purchase your tickets early as they sold out quickly in 2016.

A County Board organised course for new Referees will take place early in the new year.  Anyone wishing to take part please contact Coiste na nOg Secretary David Slattery on 087 2201042.

HANDBALL
Ballymacelligott Handball Club would like to extend our sympathies to the family of former club player and member of the club’s All Ireland’s winning team in 1975 JP Leen on his untimely death,  also our sympathies extend to John Joe Quirke (Glenbeigh Handball Club) and his family on the death of his father.

The Club would like to congratulate Ballymacelligott Handballer Danny Riordan along with his partner Paddy Donovan (Laois) on winning the UL Alumni Doubles Tournament beating Shane Hayes and Darren O’Neill (Clare) 15-10 and 15-14

BASKETBALL
A registration evening for the Bobcats Basketball Club for the new term will take place on Tuesday 10th January from 7.00 to 8.00pm at St. Brendans Community Centre.  New members welcome.

Well done to all the teams in the Parish who competed at the recent St. Marys Annual Basketball Blitz in Castleisland.  A special congratulations to our Bobcats U14 Boys team who won their section and the Ballymac Mens team who were victorious in their division.

Once again it was a superbly organised event which gave great entertainment for 5 days over the Christmas period.

SYMPATHIES
The Club extends its sympathy to the family of the late Peggy O Regan, Gortatlea on their recent bereavement. Peggy was a staunch supporter of Ballymac GAA Club and rarely missed a game where her sons James, Denis and Thomas were playing.  She was also a great worker on behalf of the Club and no job was too big or too small for Peggy to undertake.  May she rest in Peace.

The Club also extends its sympathy to the family of the  late J P Leen Arabella.  JP was a former player for the Club and was part of the Ballymac team who reached the 1962 Senior County Championship Semi Final where they were defeated by a strong North Kerry side.  On their way to this semi final Ballymac defeated Dr. Crokes and South Kerry.  JP also played mid field for Kerry in a Munster Senior Football semi final victory over Tipperary in 1966.  May he rest in peace.
