Result

Ballymac 1-09

Fossa 3-12

Ballymac were host to Fossa in the first round of the Junior Championship in what was sure to be an exciting game , and the mass of supporters that attended were not be disappointed.

Fossa’s Paudie Clifford began the scoring with a point resulting from a free given by Referee Paul Hayes , but Ballmacs number 10 Paudi McCarthy returned the score with an excellent point to level  the game in the opening minutes.

Moments later Ballymacs Aiden Breen delighted the supporters when he landed the ball in the ball in the back of the net to widen the score further .

Followed by yet another point from Gene Griffin , but Fossa were quick to react and with the expertise of David Clifford on their side who scored two goals and with 4 more points in the first half Fossa led the way to half time .

Half time score 1-06 to 2-08

The second half began with Ballymacs Aiden Breen opening the scoring with a great point and Gene Griffin followed by trying to narrow the score difference but it wasn’t to go his way and the ball landed wide .

Fossa’s David Clifford added to their own score with another 2 successive points, Ballymac fought hard to close the score board but a penalty awarded to Fossa in the closing stages of the game resulting in another goal taken by Paudi Clifford ended Ballmac’s dreams of victory.

Gene Griffin managed to get the ball past the Fossa defence in the dying seconds to score a point but time was not on  Ballmacs side and it wasn’t enough to keep the win at home.

While it wasn’t to be Ballmac’s day they gave a great performance it what was bound to be a tough challenge following Ballymacs defeat of Fossa a few weeks ago in the County League.

Fine work by Josh led to a well taken Daire Reagan goal to leave the half time score 2-6 to 2-4 in favour of Na Gael. Our opponents increased the tempo after the break and were 2-10 to 2-6 ahead after 20 minutes D Keane and D Reagan pointing for us.

Ladies

Ballymac 4-7 St Pats 2-7

The ladies Senior team had their first game at home in Ballymac on Friday 14th April against St Pats. It was a wet day but it did not dampen the spirit of the Girls that had only one thing on their mind and that was a win at home.

There was good support from the side line for this historic event for Ballymac. Ballymac had a great start with Claire Kenny getting the first score on the board and eventually marked up two points.

We dominated the first half but St Pats had better luck with scores then we did and at half time the score was St Pats 2-7 and Ballymac 1-3.

The girls went out in the second half with the focus to win the game. We started out well with further scores from Emma Sweeney who clocked up 2-2 and Nicola Horan who scored 2-1, Rachel Godley who scored 1 point and Eve Creedon who had a considerable work rate with eventually added a score of 1 point.

With great defending from our backs Michelle Lynch, Michaela Murphy, Tara Murphy, Grainne Kerins, Una Kerins, Niamh Rahilly, Caomhe Carroll, Rose Anne O’Shea, Lisa Curran, Maeve O’Sullivan & Robyn White and the persistence of our forwards Veronica Heaslip, Mary Healy, Eve Creedon, Rachel Godley, Emma Sweeney, Nicola Horan and Niaomi O’Sullivan and centre field Ellie McElligott and Claire Kenny we held them scoreless in the second half.

At the final whistle the cheers could be heard from stand and from the field with a win and final score for Ballymac Senior Ladies 4-7 to St Pats 2-7. This Team who was captained by Una Kerins did this club proud today..
