Ballymac Travelled to John Mitchells in the St.Brendans League. Ballymac were very under strength with out St Kierans contingent on duty also on the day. Eoin Maccen and Daire O’Reagan were very impressive as our two minors started their first competitive game for Ballymac Seniors but unfortunately the results did not go our way this week.
Best of luck to the St Kierans as they take on Austin Stacks in the first round of the County Championship next weekend. Best of luck to Padriag McCarthy, Dan O’Shea, Vinny Horan and Aiden Breen.
Ballymac Senior Ladies
Ballymac 2 -5 Abbeydorney 2-2
Ballymac Ladies Senior team played at home in Ballymac on Sat 6th May against Abbeydorney. The Ladies were geared up for a difficult game against a more experienced rival. Our experienced players led by example with Grainne Kerins our full back who ran from one end of the field to the other through Abbeydorney defences to score a goal and the great number of block downs by Una Kerins which stopped Abbeydorney in their tracks.
The scores on the day were from Una Kerins 1 point, Nicola Horan 2 points and Veronica Heaslip 1 goal in the first half and Eve Creedon 1 point, Grainne Kerins 1 goal and Lisa Curran 1 point in the second half. With exceptional defending from our back line and in particular Tara Murphy and Niaomi O’Sullivan the ladies kept Abbeydorney from breaking through our defences.Veronica Heaslip captained the team to victory on the day.

Celebrating 50 years of Coiste na nÓg – Parades
Ballymac were well represented by juvenile players in U-6, U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-16 boys and girls teams in the Castleisland Parade last Sunday. This was a very special event which celebrated 50 years of Coiste na nÓg. Many thanks to all players and mentors who took part in the event.
FAOI 12
Blue Team Div 3 A
The U12 blue team played Ardfert away in Ardfert last Sunday evening. The boys played brilliantly but unfortunately lost by 4 pts in an exciting game. Against strong opposition, the team gave it everything and the team effort could not be faulted on the night. Led by Captain Tommy Palmer and Michael Culloty who were outstanding, we trailed by 9 pts at half time. We really brought the game to Ardfert in the second half and it was end-to-end excitement all the way. Jack o Connor was also impressing as was the brilliant Sean Rice. We had the lead only to concede a few late points, which won it for Ardfert.
Final score Ballymac 5-10 to Ardfert 4-17. Well done to the team on their efforts in completing the first phase of the competition.
Gold Team Div 3B On a super evening for a game of football it was off to Ardfert for our last match which if we won would see us claim the Division 3B title and all I can say is the lads showed some great heart as Ardfert came storming out of the blocks and ran in 2 quick goals. It took our lads a few minutes to settle down and then we hit the ground running with some fine score taking from Shane Gilroy,Jack Slattery and Alex Riordan.
Ardfert kept us under pressure but our defence were standing tall lead by Tom Long, Jamie Burke and the inside defenders of Captain and birthday boy Cathal White, Mark o’ Connor and Evan o’ Brien who were outstanding. We started to pull away from Ardfert as the half ended with scores from Micháel Savage and David Lucid. The HT score line was Ardfert 3-0 Ballymac 4-6. The second half was tough going as Ardfert came at us again but we held our own and played some fine football where William o Donoghue, Conor Daly and Jamie Lynch played really well. It has to be said that our keeper Conor Martin was in superb form and pulled off great save after great save. Great going by the boys in their first year in competitive football and winning Division 3B on a score line of Ardfert 5-2 Ballymac 5-14. Match day squad:

U12 C Team Div 9
Ballymac Under 12C who won the Div 9 County league
The Ballymac C team played Dromid Pearses last Sunday in Ballymac in a game that would decide who came out on top in the league. On the evening, our boys played some excellent football on a lovely evening for football. Ballymac started the game well and Sam Slattery scored three excellent goals in the first half.
He was ably assisted by Luke Silles and Jack Joy in midfield with Stephen Turner, Luke Griffin and Mairtin Mc Kivergan putting in strong performances. Ballymac led by 5-04 to Dromid Pearses 3-02 at half time. Into the second half and we continued to play well. However, Dromid Pearses rallied and scored a number of unanswered goals, which had us leading by the small margin of two points going into the last few minutes.
Our boys steadied themselves and we added on two more points to complete a memorable victory on a score line of 5-11 to 5-07. A first county medal for this young team and hopefully the first of many. Well done to all the boys and the mentors.

Last Sunday morning the academy was cancelled due to the parade in Castleisland. Many thanks to the players, parents and mentors for attending. A number of our under ten panel played in the U12 C team last Sunday evening and they performed very well and came away with a county title. Well done to all concerned. Our U8 boys took part in the parade in Castleisland last Sunday. Congratulations to Cora Savage
Huge congratulations to the Kerry under 14 ladies and to Ballymac own Cora Savage on playing her part winning against old rivals Cork in the Munster ladies under 14 final in Mallow this afternoon. You did the club proud.
Scór Sinsir All Ireland
The All Ireland Scór Sinsir finals took place yesterday at The Waterfront Concert Hall, Belfast, as Provincial winners represented both their clubs & counties. Well done to John Scanlon & Tom Daly who were just pipped at the post in an earlier heat, representing our club…..Here’s to next year !
