Ballymac V Brosna Junior County League Result

Ballymac 0-13
Brosna – 1-05

Well done to the Ballymac team and management on a great start in the league.

Ballymac u14 girls

Ballymac u14 girls played their final county league game on Sunday 21st at 1pm in Ballymac against Killarney Legion.

Ballymac won the encounter with a five goal nine points blitz of their opponents in the first half and a rock tight defence that leaked a mere point to their opponents.  The comprehensive lead afforded Ballymac to roll out the bench in the second half and although the scores did not come as easy Cora savage managed to tack on another two points to win the second half with the Killarney side only managing to score a single point.

This result leaves a mouth watering final against Rathmore. The teams played a thrilling  draw in Rathmore last time out in very difficult conditions.

The team today lined out as follows Lorna Daly, Ellie  Lenihan,Aoife Galvin, Millie Dunne,Grainne Galvin, Roisin Long,Alissa Leen, Emily O’Brien,Sinead McKeown , Mary Ann Fleming, Cora Savage, Roisin Rahilly, Laura Dunne, Kate O’Connor & Shonagh Griffin. Replacements : Yvonne Hurley, Holly Geary, Jade Riordan, Emily  o’Donoghue, Sophie o’Donoghue, Kerry Hennesy, Emma Leen, Ciara Palmer, Abagail Martin, Katie Enright, Eimear Curran.

Scorers: Cora savage 3-07, Kate O’Connor 2-01, Sinead McKeown 0-02, Mary Ann Fleming 0-02, Shonagh Griffin 0-02, Yvonne Hurley0-01

Numbers one to 26 were outstanding  but special mention again must go to Cora Savage who again finished top scorer but also selflessly played her teammates in for some well worked scores, Kate O’Connor in full forward scoring 2-01 proved a vital link for the team winning and off loading a lot of ball that ended up as scores.

In midfield Sinead McKeown and Emily o Brien worked tirelessly and cut out the Legion threat from an early stage. Although the score would suggest otherwise the Ballymac defence worked well as a unit spearheaded by Roisin Long and Aoife Galvin who along with their fellow backs held strong.

Div 1 Co League

Ballymac 2-6 Cromane 2-5

For the first time since the formation of the ladies club we are competing in Div 1 of the co League , In our first game at home last Tuesday evening we played Cromane , a tight first half saw both defences dominate to leave half time score 2 points a piece with Roisin Rahilly & Laura Sugrue our scorers . The 2nd half was a bit more open as both sets of forwards began to make inroads . Roisin & Ciara got on top gradually at midfield & with Kate Collins & Laura Sugrue goaling we looked good with 10mins to go leading 2-5 to 0-3 . However 2 goals by Cromane changed the complexion of the game ,

points from Roisin & Kate gave us some breathing space but Cromane never gave up but we held out to win by 1

Kerry Hennesy again was outstanding in goals , Alexia Weiss , Orla O Connor, Abbey Leahy and Kate Feeney played well in defence . Roisin & Ciara showed great example while Charlotte Geary , Rachel Griffen , Kate Collins & Laura Sugrue were the pick of the forwards . Ali Feeney & Niamh Lynch were much improved too & Roisin Raggett tried hard . Super subs Jill Quirke , Alice Brosnan , Anna Collins and Labhoise Mansfield impressed when coming on

Scartaglen away next Tuesday are next up .

North Kerry League Div 1 Semi final Sunday 14th May

Ballymac Blue – 7-4 Abbeydorney  2-7

A fantastic 1st half performance laid the foundations for this victory , good combination play from Roisin Rahilly & Ciara Palmer resulted in goals for Laura Sugrue & Kate Collins in our first 2 attacks . Kate added a point & goals for Roisin , Ciara & Rachel Creedon  had us up 5-2 to 0-1 after 20mins , Kate Collins added another point before half time while Abbeydorney tacked 3 further points .

2nd Half saw Abbydorney make numerous changes & they came back into the game , 2 goals & few points saw them make inroads to our lead . However with the introduction of subs Jill Quirke ,Roisin Raggett , Anna Collins , Rachel Griffen , Alice Brosnan & Aoibin Brodrick we finished strong . Rachel Creedon added 2 more goals for her hatrick on the night . Kate Collins & Ciara added a further points to get us to the final where we’ll play Stacks in Connelly Park . Date & Time TBC

A great team performance on the night , Orla & Alexia stand out backs while Roisin & Charlotte did really well in half back line , Ciara & Rachel ran themselves to a stand still & the forwards in which Ella Quirke led by example with her work rate got our scores . Goalkeeper Kerry Hennesy was outstanding on the night making 3 great saves & accurate kick outs

Blue Team Division 4

Ballymac U12 boys will take part in the Diarmuid O’ Brien memorial football blitz in Newmarket again this year.

We will be looking to make it three in a row when we look to defend the trophy we won the last two years. The blitz will take place on the 24th of June. The boys under 12 blue team started the 2nd phase of the County League at home to St. Senans last Sunday evening.

The team performed well overall but our inability to do it for the full game again cost us. We started well but the game ran away from us before half time. St. Senans leading by eight points at the break. Michael Culloty, the Horgan twins, Luke and Aiden and Sean Rice were playing well. With improved effort and great team spirit, we came back into it.

Our subs in particular were very good. Alvero Marquez, Sam Mansfield and Michael Prendergast were getting on the scoresheet. Cian McCarthy also impressed and we brought them back to three points. We however could not get the scores we needed in the last five minutes to win it. St. Senans scored two more points to win on a score line 5-10 to Ballymac 4-08. Well done to the lads on a great team effort.Training continues Tuesday and Friday at 7.00 pm.

Gold Team Division 6 On a breezy evening for a game of football we started phase 2 of the County League in Ballymac where the Gold team came up against a very strong Dingle A team in Division 6. We lost on the evening on a score line of 2-06 to 5-19. The boys needed a tough game and now we have a lot of work to do in training. Keep the heads high lads and we will work hard on Tuesday night.
