Round 7 of The County League

Ballymac 0-12

Laune Rangers 3-09

A great amount of supporters came out to cheer on both teams for the the 7th round of the County league in what was sure to be a very competitive match.

From the off both teams made great attempts to put a mark on the score board but it was Laune Rangers at the 5thminute  that did just that followed 4 mins later  with their number 14 Connor Clarke doubling their staring score.

Ballymac fought back when on the 13th minute Aiden Breen gave Ballymac their first point in outstanding exhibition followed by Vinny Horan scoring to match the Launge rangers points on the board.

It was early days and all to play for, both teams giving everything to defend their sides , but the battle was hard fought in the closing minutes of the first half with Ballymac scoring 5 points in total to laune Rangers  7 points. The visitors having the advantage going into the break.

The second half proved to be a completely different game , With such a narrow gap in scores to begin it was anybodys game.

Laune Rangers immediately pushed forward when their number 15 Colm O’Shea put the ball over the net widening that gap , and they continued to push when Laune Rangers Shane Daly came up the wing expertly passing the ball to his number 14 Conor Clarke who took on the Ballymac Keeper who save the ball but on the rebound Laune Rangers scored their first goal,

With confidence on the up they got a second goal just two minutes later . Ballymac seemed to find their feet at this point of the match when they teamed up and managed 4 points without response in just 6 minutes, they battled hard to bring the game to their side but another Laune Rangers goal spoiled their hopes and seemed to seal the deal for the visitors.

The last 15 minutes decided who were to be the victors and it was Laune Rangers that proved to be too strong for the home side and came out on top.Ballymac did bring great strength and absolute heartfelt determination to this game and we are sure that they will bring the magic back again.

FAOI 14

The U14 A boys had a home fixture against Na Gaeil last Thursday the 29th of June.

Our U14 boys continued their great form shown at the Munster Feile last weekend with a well-earned victory over Na Gaeil played in blustery conditions last Thursday in Ballymac. From the off the Ballymac lads were well up for this game with both teams missing a few players. It proved a great opportunity for others to shine.

Adam O’ Keeffe returned to goals where his kick out strength proved valuable both against and with the breeze. Jamie Sugrue has shown improvements all year and deserved his starting role where he impressed at corner back.

Denis Brosnan’s switch to midfield along worked well alongside the ever-reliable Adam Joy who worked tirelessly throughout. Gary Lynch played some of his best football to date at corner forward along with centre forward Sean Horan.

Playing against a stiff breeze in the first half Ballymac used all their experience to carry the ball extremely well. They showed great patience in defence, which found itself under pressure at times.

We went in at half time in a comfortable position, down by 2 points on a score of 1-03 to 0-08.

Ballymac used the wind to their advantage in the second half by creating space and letting quick long ball into the forwards, which was boosted by the introduction of Donal Daly and Maurice O’ Connell.

Ballymac kicked 1-07 to Na Gaels 0-04 points to gain their first two valuable points in what is an extremely competitive Div 1 Central Region. Final result was Ballymac 2-10 Na Gaeil 0-12.
