Community Games

Balllymac u13 girls Basketball team participated in the Community Games held last Saturday. The team began the day in Duagh with victories over Rathmore/Gneeveguilla and Spa/Muckross which qualified them for a semi final against Firies in Castleisland where they carried on their good form to record an impressive victory to qualify for the final against neighbours Castleisland.

An excellent first half performance saw us lead 11-5 at half time however the home side battled back and took a 17-16 lead with 35 seconds remaining.

Our girls put in a mighty effort to score a winning basket but unfortunately the clock was against them. While they were disappointed not to win the team can be very proud of their  efforts on the day and their Silver medals. Special mention must be made of coach Trod who had the girls playing to a very high standard on the day.

Panel: Ciara Palmer Roisin Rahilly Ella Quirke Abby Leahy Orla O Connor Rachel Griffin Aoibheann Broderick Kate Collins Rachel Creedon Jill Quirke.

Our u13 boys took to the court on Sunday in Castleisland. In their first game they faced a very strong Rathmore/Gneeveguilla side who proved too strong for our boys. In their second game they took on Fossa where they recorded an impressive victory. However due to the earlier loss they did not progress. Many thanks to Shane Lucid for coaching the boys on the day.

Panel: Tommy Palmer Niall Collins Callum Priestly Evan O Brien Michael Savage Shane Gilroy Tom Long David Lucid Jack Joy.

Forthcoming events in Community Games include Swimming,  Recitation, Music, Singing, Art, Handwriting and Draughts.

Any child (8-16 year old) wishing to participate must be a resident of Ballymac parish. Please contact Colette Collins (086 8718424)if you have a boy or girl who might be interested. All competitors must be registered on line prior to the competition.
