Round 4 of The Senior Football County League

Ballymac v Listowel Emmets

Referee : James O’Sullivan

In what was a beautiful summer evening in Ballymac,  Ballymac were host to Listowel Emmets for the fourth round of The Senior County League .

A great atmosphere surrounded the field as both teams geared up for the challenge.

It was the visitors that opened the scoring when Conor Cox skillfully placed the ball over the net. But a free awarded to Ballymac shortly after allowed Aiden Breen to level the game in the first 10 minutes of the match. It was a tense affair as both teams were point for point until Ballymacs Vinnie Horan gave his side their first goal . It was 1-05 to Ballymac to Emmets 0-06 points and the visitors responded to try to make up the difference when Emmets David Keane scored a well fought goal making work for Ballymacs keeper Brian Lonergan who made his League debut in this game.

Going to into half time with a score of Ballymac 1-07 to Emmets 1-08 it was all to play for.

The 2nd half started with an air of determination for both sides and while Listowel Emmets Conor Cox again scored the first point moments after the start it would be Ballymac who would dominate the remainder of the game . With a penalty award to Ballymac Aiden Breen scored the 2nd goal of the match followed moments later from yet another goal from Vinnie Horan ensuring a well widened gap on the score board, with another 4 points from Ballymacs Eanna Reidy, Josh O’Keefe, Vinnie Horan and Aiden Breen  without response from Listowel Emmets it was the home side that truly owned this half. Listowel Emmets no 6 Niall Collins did give their side another point close to the finish but it was not enough and too late as the final whistle was sounded .

The final score was Ballymac 3-14 to Listowel Emmets 1-11.

We would like to congratulate Ballymac team and management on this well deserved win and also welcome our new young keeper Brian Lonergan to the position of Goal Keeper. With Brian and the trained eye of keeper Padriag Laide we are sure Brian will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years.

We would also like to wish Listowel Emmets team and management  the very best in their season ahead.

U14A

Our u 14s travelled to kenmare to take on the locals in Round 5 of the County League . A heavy shower before throw in made conditions difficult, but fair play to Ballymac they got down to business straight from the throw in and after 15 minutes were 3 – 02 to 0-04 ahead, Our first goal coming from the boot of Gary Lynch . Lead by captain mark o Connor the boys continued to Dominate and piled on the pressure to take a sizeable lead with them to the dressing room at halftime ,leading  5-07 to 1-05 . Mossie Brennan James Kenny and Eoin Creedon were well on top in defence . Our two midfielders of Luke o Connell & Donal Daly were outstanding, Luke o Connell scoring an impressive 3-01 while Donal Daly’s point scoring was impeccable. In the second half we continued to Dominate, with some beautiful passages of play . Niall Collins with 5 points from play was impressive as was Maurice O Connell who finished with a tally of 4 points . Aidan Horgan was at the end of some wonderful play to bring his tally to 3 points .
