U16 Boys

Ballymac U16s played host to Churchill on Wednesday June 20th at 7 in the first round of their Division 3 County League campaign. This was a very enjoyable game of football with both sides giving it their all.  Churchill opened the scoring with a point from their full forward but this was quickly cancelled out by a point from play by Dara Broderick. Two more points from Churchill and a point from Ballymac’s corner forward Denis Brosnan left the score at 3 points to 2 after ten minutes. Ballymac stepped up a gear and with some good forward play combined with excellent defending the visitors failed to score for the remainder of the first half. Daragh Broderick pointed two frees before Daragh Sweeney from his corner back position drove up the field and and set up Dylan Dunne Moriarty who scored a great goal. One more point from the hard working Sean Horan left the score at half time  Ballymac  1.5  Churchill 0.3

The second half was only a minute old when Dara Broderick pointed a free after Brian Cassidy was fouled. Churchill responded with a goal from their corner forward. This was followed with a point from either side. This left the score after five minutes at Ballymac 1.7  Churchill 1.4  From then on , the floodgates opened and the goals — 9 in total started to pile in.  Ballymac scored five of these, four coming from the boot of Adam Joy and the fifth from the impressive sub Donal Daly.  Churchill scored 3.4 before the final whistle to leave Ballymac the victors on a scoreline of  Ballymac  6.7  to Churchill 4.8

This was a great team effort from the Ballymac boys and gives them the start they wanted  to their county league campaign.

U14 Girls Rose Hotel County League Semi-final

Ballymac 5-6 Beaufort 1-10

Following a 2-4 a piece draw last week in very different weather conditions the Ballymac U14 girls finished the job in Beaufort on Wed evening . A very controlled 1st half performance by Ballymac set the foundations for a good win . Strong defensively and taking our opportunities meant that we led 1-5 to 0-3 . A great goal from Alyssa who was brilliant at midfield all night , 4 pts by Ciara and one from Ella completed our scoring . Beaufort made some changes at half time & Ballymac had to replace an injured Ella Quirke , Rachel Griffen replacing her. Beaufort started in deterined fashion reeling off 3 points within 6minutes to reduce the lead to 2 . Next kick out saw Shona Griffen knock the ball onto Roisin who galloped forward at speed to kick a point, this seemed to settle our girls and we proceeded to dominate the next 10 mins . We pinned Beaufort in their own half and produced 3 goals , 2 crackers from Shonagh O Connor & 1 from Alyssa . Beaufort eventually won the ball & worked forward to score 1-3.  The 23rd minute of the half Roisin & Ciara worked the ball forward via Alexia Weiss & she found Cathy Palmer who planted the ball in the net for our 5 th goal of the game . Beaufort kept coming forward but determined defending from the girls in blue saw them prevent goals , 3 frees and one from play saw Beaufort complete the  scoring .
While the goals decided the game our defense and tackling was excellent , Mary Joe Curran complimented the backs on their display .
A great team performance from 1-20 . Roll on the div 2 final .

Finally Ballymac GAA would like to congratulate the Kerry Minor and Senior Teams on their outstanding achievements in winning the Munster Final this weekend. And also to the Kerry U 20’s on their defeat againt Waterford . Outstanding performances from our County teams and we wish you all the best for the rest of the season.
