U6 Training

On Sunday morning last we had 24 boys and girls at out U6 training. They are all making a great effort to improve on their skills and the coaches can see the practice that is done at home.  We look forward to seeing all our U6/ U7 girls and U6  boys at the Main Pitch on Sunday morning at 11.00am.

Congratulations to our U6 Coach Bridget Leen and her team mate Marian Doherty from Ballymacelligott who were honoured with the rest of their 1993 team in Croke Park on Sunday. The team celebrated winning the All Ireland Final 25 years ago. Its a great achievement to play for your County and we congratulate Bridget and Marian.

Under 10 Boys

Our u10 boys team took part in the John Mitchels Blitz held on Saturday last.

Our first game saw us take on eventual winners Churchill who took an early lead which we found hard to pull back resulting in a five point win for the Churchill boys.

We then struck form which resulted in wins over Kerins O Rahillys,Ardfert and Beale before our final group game against Na Gaeil which proved to be a tight encounter with the play going from end to end.At the final whistle it was the town side who emerged victorious by a goal.

Despite not qualifying from our group our boys performed very well in all the games with improvement shown as the day went on.

Well done to Kevin Mc Mahon and his team who once again ran a very successful and well organised Blitz.

The boys are on the road again on Saturday when they take part in the Castleisland District u10 Blitz due to be held in Brosna with a starting time of 11am.

Under 14

Our u 14 s travelled to cordal to play the long awaited Castleisland District Final against Knock / Brosna / Daugh . On a perfect evening for football, The knock / Brosna / Duagh boys got of to an ideal start with 3 quick points in succession. However Ballymac rallied and were level after about ten minutes. James Kenny Donal Daly & Luke o connell were our point scorers  . This game was turning out to be a rip roaring game with some great battles fought around the pitch .Mark O Connor Sean Rice and Luke o Connell were playing well in this half . A Goal from Maurice o connell had us in a good position coming up to half time with a 3 point lead . Some of the point scoring  from both sides was outstanding  in this half and the slight breeze was going to  favour knock / Brosna / Daugh in the second half .

Knock / Brosna /Daugh  got off to a great start again in the second half and after 5 minutes had the game level , 3 superb scores one a free kick from 35 yards . However Ballymac dug deep and responded with some more points , two frees from Donal Daly . Another goal from Maurice O Connell had us in the driving seat once again , But knock / Brosna / Daugh fought back gallantly and hit the net once more and added two further points to tie the game with six minutes left . But a gutsy  Ballymac team fired on by good support on the line , scored three more points , a brilliant effort from Michael prendergast, a sweet strike from the outside of the boot by Maurice o Connell & a beautiful strike on the left foot by Donal Daly seperated the sides in the finish .

Thanks to Knock / Brosna /Daugh for a fine sporting Game , thanks to all supporters who travelled to cordal to cheer on the boys . Thanks to coaches Declan O Connell Roland Rogers Eddie O Connell & John Rice for giving up their free time and  all the hard work had paid off with a memorable victory . Joint captains Maurice O Connell & James Kenny accepted the trophy on behalf of this gallant Ballymac Team . Well done to all . Thanks to Ballymac Coiste Na Nog , Dave Slattery, Trish Horan for their support throughout the year
