Minors

WE are through to a County League div 5 semi final. Despite a difficult week we secured the last qualifying spot and will play Ballyduff away next Friday evening 12th @6-45.

With a small squad we travelled to Kilgarvan on Friday evening, but the home side were too strong for us and won easily.

BALLYMAC 3—5 BALLYDUFF 3–11

ON a wintry Tuesday evening we played Ballyduff at home in the County League. We lined out without several key players but Eoin Kenny, Ciaran Brosnan, and Brian Cassidy worked hard for us while Daire Broderick was once more our top scorer.D Broderick pointed for us but the visitors were well on top early on .

Eoin Kenny made two fine saves and Ballyduff missed several scoring chances. Midway through the half they eventually got on the scoresheet getting a goal and two points in quick succession. D Broderick drove forward took a return pass from Dylan McHugh and goaled, which was quickly followed by a Donal Daly point .

The visitors again pointed with D Broderick pointing for us. With a few minutes left in the half Ballyduff got their second goal ,but a long range effort from Daire Broderick went straight to the net. Half time score 2—3 each.

D Broderick pointed for us on the restart while our opponents got 2 more points. Brian Cassidy made a storming run upfield ,passed to Adam Joy who found the Ballyduff net. The visitors got 2 more points while Daire Broderick got our final point. With the aid of a strong wind Ballyduff scored another 1—4 in the final ten minutes.

Ladies

Ballymac Senior Ladies V’s Clounmackon/Moyvane

Mary Jo Curran Cup

We started the game at 10.30am in Clounmackons home pitch. This was a beautiful day for a game of football. The girls were up for the challenge against a strong side from Clounmackon. Clounmackon had 15 players and we had 14 players. The game started 13 a side. The girls started strong against Clounmackon and kept them to a two point to one point lead. The team worked hard with great runs up and down the field from Ellie McElligott and Eve Creedon who worked hard throughout the game from catching kick outs to passing off the ball to the forwards to create scoring chances. Great defending form the back line stopped Clounmackon in their tracks throughout the game.

Unfortunately on the day Clounmackon found their kicking boots and the final score was Clounmackon 4-11 to Ballymac 1-5.

The score does not reflect the effort that went in and the missed scoring opportunities that happened throughout the game. We had great scores from Eve Creedon and Grainne Kerins 2 points each, Una Kerins with 1 point and the great goal was from Emma Sweeney.

Our team was Ellie Sugrue in Goals, Naomi O’Sullivan and Niamh Rahilly on the full back line, Aisling O’Connel, Millie Luck and Caoimhe Carroll Half Back line, Eve Creedon and Ellie McElligott Centre Field, Una Kerins, Lisa Curran, Grainne Kerins Half Forward and Emma Sweeney, Mary Sugrue Full forward Line. Rachel Godley was sub and filled in throughout the game.

U16 Ladies V’s Rathmore

The under 16 Ladies lost to Rathmore on Thursday evening in Rathmore in  Division 1 of the County League on a scoreline of 3-13 to 1-08 . They gave their all on the night and were unlucky for a few goals which would have made a difference but in the end the hosts deserved the win.

U12 girls V’s Na Gael

This game was played at 11:15 on Saturday morning in Na Gael.

Na Gael played the better football in the first half and would have been more ahead but for heroic efforts from our Goalie and full back.

At half time it was level at  Na Gael 1:7 Ballymac 3:1

Ballymac fell behind early in the second half and stayed behind for most of the  half but our midfielders managed to get 2 more goals and a few points to secure a narrow win. Full Time score Na Gael 2:11   Ballymac 5:5.

Coiste na nÓg News:

Our Under 16 Team travelled to Killorglin for first game of season.
Our u 16s travelled to Killorglin to take on the locals in Round one of the central Region Division one  on Monday night last.
Despite been short a few regulars our lads were slow to settle. Killorglin started well and were leading by 4pts to 1pt after ten minutes. A goal by Killorglin put them in a good position , but 2 points from Gary Lynch and 3 from  Donal Daly in a good spell between the 12th and 20th minute gave us some bit of hope. But Killorglin fought back with another goal and were leading  at the interval 2 09 to 0 05 .
Killorglin were much more physical than our boys , but this didn’t stop our lads from trying to the end . A fine Solo effort from Maurice O’Connell added to our tally but on a night when our opponents were that bit stronger , our boys can be proud of their effort against such formidable opposition. Thanks to all parents who traveled and supported our team on the night . Players to impress on the night were James Kenny ,James Bailey, Ryan McHugh ,Donal Daly & Gary Lynch .

They play Castlegregory in Castlegregory at 7pm on Monday 8th April and on Monday 15th April they are at home to Na Gaeil at 7pm.

Great Start to County League for U14 Team
Our u14 Boys began their Division 3 Co League campaign on Wednesday evening last when they entertained Beaufort.

Playing with a strong breeze our lads settled quickly and established an early lead, our dominance continued throughout the half which contributed to us holding an unassailable half time lead.

To be fair to the Beaufort boys they put in a big effort in the second half but at the full time whistle we were victorious on a 5-15 to 3-2 scoreline.

Our next outing sees us travel to Ardfert as we seek to continue our winning run.

Our u14 Gold team also are in due to begin their Co League Competition in the coming week.

UNDER 12

Gold Team 5 -4   Laune Rangers 1-4

On Sunday April 7th our Gold Team played Laune Rangers in the first game of the u12 County League. Our boys played with great skill and worked so well as a unit. Some super fielding and attacking football saw our boys ahead at half time with a score line of 3-1 to 0-1.

John Leen had a great game, making some super saves. Our defence was solid and our forwards were in super form scoring some outstanding scores.

Eoghan Joy and Padraig Reidy worked tirelessly at midfield.

A super start for our boys. Well done.

First night of Silent Sideline worked very well with great support from all supporters.

This week the coaches and players focused on the skills and YES next week we will have a game that will put to work all the skills that were picked up over the next few weeks! We look forward to seeing you all next week .

Parking/Traffic Arrangements for Sunday Academy.

For Health & Safety reason on Sunday morning next we ask all parents dropping off children to the academy , to park outside the Main Gates and walk into the pitch with children.   The Main gates will be closed as its too dangerous immediately after training to accommodate all the cars leaving etc. We thank you all  in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

2019 COUNTY CLEAN UP: is on Saturday next 13th April.
The eighth annual County Clean Up will take place this year on Saturday, 13 April and a call has gone to individuals, clubs and communities across the county to take part and help make the county spick and span.

The Half Way Shop have the green bags etc. in stock at the moment. Volunteers can pick up these at their convenience and collection points will be designated around the county to ensure that all litter gathered is disposed of.

Last year, some 5,500 volunteers were out and about on the day with the support of Kerry County Council and KWD Recycling as well as local organisations like Kerry GAA, Kerry IFA and Kerry ICMSA.

Colm ‘The Gooch’ Cooper will again be lending a hand this year and is helping to promote the initiative. The clean up day has grown in numbers year after year.

As a county we are very reliant on our reputation for a clean and litter-free environment and everyone has a role to play.  A record 5,500 volunteers took part in the Kerry County Clean Up in April 2018 which saw 8,000 bags of litter collected, the highest ever tally.
