U16 Central Region : Ardfert 3-05 Ballymac 3-11

Our u 16s travelled to Ardfert to take on the locals in round 4 of the central region , Division one on Monday night last 22nd April.

Playing with the wind in the first half , we started impressively and were 1 -02 ahead after 10 mins , our goal coming from Bryan Godley . Ardfert got the next two points , but our boys were unlucky not to be further ahead with some good defending from Ardfert. Then  Adam Kelly hit the net , Adam Joy with a sweet strike from a 45 for a point and 3 further points shortly after by Donal Daly , we were looking good with a lead of 2 07 to 1 03 at the interval.

Playing against the wind in the second half , we were rattled early on when Ardfert hit for two early goals to cut the deficit to the minimum . However our boys showed great resilience and took the game to Ardfert and points from Adam Joy & Donal Daly seemed to galvanise the team.

The introduction of Gary Lynch, Mark O’Connor and James Kenny , really spurred on the team , Mark and James outstanding in defence .The industrious Sean Horan  had the final point of the game to seal a Ballymac win on a scoreline of 3-11 to 3 -05 .

Others to impress were Kieran Slattery,  James Bailey, Denis Brosnan, Bryan Godley , Donal Daly and Adam Kelly . Congrats to the team on a brilliant display, thanks to all parents  who supported us on the night . Thanks to Ardfert for a sporting game .

In the final round of the U16s Central Region League  Ballymac U16s play host to Austin Stacks tomorrow night Monday 29th April at 7pm in Ballymac.
In this Round 5 and final round in the league our boys go into the game third on the League table. This is a vital game for the team and management and all support welcome.

On Thursday next the 2nd May our U16 team play Currow in the Castleisland District A Final.
The game is at 7pm and takes place in Cordal.

All support very welcome.

Busy week for our U14s

Our u14 Boys continued their good run in Co League Division Three with a hard earned win at home to Firies on Wednesday evening last.

In what was an open and high scoring game throughout, it was Firies who held the early advantage leading 2-4 to 1-2 midway through the opening period. Ballymac then hit a purple patch to see us lead at the break 3-6 to 2-5.

We further extended this lead and looked set for victory as the half progressed ,however Firies came storming back into the game and levelled the game with five minutes remaining, at this stage they seemed set to take the spoils as momentum was certainly with them.

Full credit must go to our Boys who regained their composure to add 1-1 in the time remaining to secure the two points on offer after a pulsating encounter.

Final score Ballymac 4-12 Firies 4-8

A victory in our final game away to Castlegregory next Wednesday evening May 1st  will ensure a home semi final in this competition.

Both Ballymac Team’s made the trip to Killarney last Thursday 25th April for Rd 3 Div 1 County League and credit to both set’s of players who put in two impressive performance.

Dr Crokes A 1 06 Ballymac Blue 5 19

Ballymac Blue continued with their excellent form with another fantastic result. Goals on the night from Stephen Turner, Eoin Moriarty and Ciarán O’Connell added by exceptional point taking through both feet and some wonderful fisted efforts from Micheál O Connor, Jack Joy and Mairtín Mc Kivergan.

The industrial Matthew Rogers, Luke Silles, Conal Savage and Ben O’Keeffe throughout the game denied Crokes of that much-needed possession with their unquestionable work rate and also chipped in with a few points of their own. Cian Harris in goals had little to trouble him but when called on, was most confident in his duties.

Best wishes to Sam Slattery who picked up an injury early in first half ruling him out of the remainder of game.

Crokes B 0-7 Ballymac Gold Team 5-23

Our Gold Team  got off to a great start with 2  Goals after 5 minutes. There was great work being done around midfield by both Eoghan Joy and Shane Crossan with Michael Quirke and Padráig Reidy adding to the scoreline.
Our defence  was rock solid leaving the half time score 5-8 to 0-1.

At halftime we asked the team to score 8 more points in the second half with a reward of cups of tea for the team! They must really love tea as they went on to score 2 more goals and 13 points with stand out performances from Gearoid Healy, Sean Martin and Luke Griffin to name just a few.
A great team performance with some excellent passing and work rate. Well done boys.

Both Ballymac Gold and Blue teams will travel to Connolly Park on Sunday next the 5th May to play Austin Stacks. Please check our web site and Facebook page for full details prior to the weekend.
