Coiste na nÓg News:

U14s

Ballymac 5-10 Firies 3-11

Ballymac Under 14s.

Pride of place this week goes our u14 Boys team who were crowned Division 3 County Champions following their victory over Firies on Wednesday evening in Austin Stack Park.

The foundation for the victory was laid in the first half when playing with a stiff breeze we played some excellent football which resulted in goals for Micheàl Savage Skye Lynch(3) and Niall Collins.

Firies hit two goals of their own to leave the half time score Ballymac 5-8 Firies 2-2.

Firies applied pressure right from the start of the second half and but for some excellent defending from Micheàl Culloty Diarmuid Galvin and Luke and Aidan Horgan would have made bigger inroads into the Ballymac lead.

Good work also by Padraig Heffernan and Sean Rice around the midfield area helped Ballymac hold sway here for most of the game.

Forwards Shane Gilroy Niall Collins and Skye Lynch were involved in most of the good offensive Ballymac play

Mention must also be made of goalkeeper Tommy Palmer who was soundness personified throughout.

Well done also to our subs when introduced didn’t let the side down.

Credit must also go to Firies for their never say die attitude that saw them bring a fifteen point half time deficit down to just two scores at the final whistle.

However it was the Ballymac boys who were celebrating at the end and captain Sean Rice accepted the winning trophy on behalf of the team.

Thank Supporters and co league meadal . It is not everyday a team wins a County League title and those medals are precious.

A big thank you to all the supporters who came to Austin Stack Park to support the boys and to Coiste na nÓg for playing the final in Austin Stack Park. It was a special night for everyone involved.

Under 16

Our u 16 s played Ardfert in Division 1 (b) of the Central Region at Austin Stacks Park on Monday night lat 13th May. Ardfert started well and had two points on the board after 5 mins , but our boys playing with the wind were level soon afterwards , one point from the boot of Maurice O’Connell and another from Gary Lynch . Ardfert having that bit of a physical presence about them continued to bring the play to Ballymac , but our defenders in Ryan McHugh, James Bailey, Daragh Sweeney and Adam Kelly worked tirelessly. Both teams added further scores to bring the sides level after 18 mins , the two points from Ballymac :one coming from James Kenny and another from Maurice O’Connell . Ballymac had the ball in the net shortly after , but the goal was disallowed, as the referee had the whistle blown for a throw ball . Ardfert added 4 further points to lead 8 Pts to 4 Pts at the interval. Despite playing against the wind and trailing by 4 points , we were quick of the mark in the second half with a point from Adam Sheehy. Ardfert pushed ahead again with some further points and the signs were ominous when they had the ball in the net midway through the second half . However our boys kept playing to the end , and were rewarded when Cathal Culloty had the ball in the net shortly after, following some good play from Luke O’Connell and Adam Walker in Defense. A point from a free from Adam Joy was our final Score. Ardfert were worthy winners on a Scoreline of 1 14 to 1 06 . Thanks to all players for putting in a great effort in the Central Region and well done on getting to the final . Thanks to all parents and supporters who travelled and supported us on the night . Thanks to Austin Stacks Park Committee for allowing us to play in such a fine Stadium, both players and Coaches really appreciated this kind Gesture. Mile Buíochas .

Juvenile Goals from 21 to 21 metre line

If that game was a draw scoring difference will be used

If teams still cannot be separated the least scores conceded will determine the order in the group.

If the 3 teams in the group finish level on points then scoring difference will determine the rankings (If teams still cannot be separated then points conceded will then come into play)

Round 1 on Wednesday 22nd May

Round 2 on Monday 27th May

Semi Finals and Finals on weekend of Friday 31st

Unlimited Substitutions allowed

This is a great competition as at time of the year U 17 players will not be involved with any other teams and this competition will provide games for these players. 7 a side football is fast, open and exciting and something different for the players. We look forward to taking part in the competition and we hope we get plenty of support for the players on the night.

U12 U12s are training away and the fixtures for phase 2 of The County League have just come out. Our Blue team play in Division 1A and our Gold team in Division 1B. Both teams play the same opposition in the groups: Rathmore, Laune Rangers, Austin Stacks , Spa and An Ghaeltacht.

Our Round 1 game is on Tuesday 28th May at home in Ballymac at 7pm. All of our Under 12 games will involve the supporters on the sidelines being silent under the new Silent Sideline initiative being run by County Coiste na nÓg. This was a great success in Phaese 1 and will continue in Phase 2.

Ballymac 0-03 St Pats 4-10

On Friday 10th May our U14 team played St Pats in Ballymac in Div 5 Non-County League. We struggled to get scores all evening and even though nothing went our way all girls tried

hard to the end. Despite the final score of St Pats 4 10 to Ballymac 0 3 we enjoyed a lot of possession and hopefully will learn to use it better for future games.

U12 Girls

Ballymac 5-18 Churchill 0-03
