Thank You to Peter Keane & The Kerry Senior Squad
We are disappointed after the All Ireland Final and Congratulate Dublin on their super achievement of winning 5 in a row All Ireland Finals.

Disappointed, yes, but not with our Peter Keane, his Management team & Players who gave us, the supporters, a marvelous year and especially a marvelous month leading up to Two All Irelands!

We thank you for your commitment to the Green and Gold and roll on 2020 when The AFL starts and all your supporters will be out wearing the Green and Gold with pride! Míle Buíochas -Ciarraí Abú!

Erection of New Nets in Main Pitch
For Health & Safety Reasons Ballymac GAA Club has to erect nets behind our Goals. This necessitates the trees, that are behind the goals, being trimmed first and then the erection of the nets. All the preparatory work and cost estimates have taken place.

This work is necessary and will be done over the next few weeks. The estimated cost is in excess of €9,500.00. This is a big added expense for our club that we have to budget and fundraise for. Any contribution to the club from anyone would be really appreciated. Every contribution makes a difference. Many Thanks.

Coiste na nÓg News:

U14Boys:
At the beginning of any year the two main competitions for all Ballymac underage teams are the Co League and the Castleisland District League competition.

Victory in one of these competitions is a great achievement but a double is an extra special accomplishment.

Following their Co League success earlier in the year our U14 team attained this feat with a victory over Desmonds in Cordal on Thursday evening.

Desmonds started the stronger and held an early 1-3 to 1-0 lead which reflected their dominance with Skye Lynch goaling for Ballymac.

Ballymac then settled and further goals from Niall Collins, Lynch and Shane Gilroy saw them lead at the break on a 4-4 to 1-9 score line.

An early Jack Slattery green flag extended our lead and we looked to be well in control of the game, however, three Desmonds goals saw them right back in the game and with ten minutes remaining, led by a point.

This was a true test of our Boys character and they proved their mettle by adding extra points to regain the lead.

The Castleisland lads tried their hardest to hit the net to save the game for them but the Ballymac defence was resolute to ensure that it was they who were celebrating at the final whistle on a 5-13 to 4-12 score line.

Richie Cotter presented the Shield to winning captain Diarmuid Galvin to bring down the curtain on a very successful year for the team.

Ballymac Team:

Tommy Palmer Cathal White Aidan Horgan Micheàl Culloty William O Donoghue Diarmuid Galvin Mark O Connor Luke Horgan(0-2) Sean Rice Skye Lynch(2-1) Shane Gilroy(1-0) Tom Long Micheàl Savage(0-2,0-1f) Niall Collins(1-8,0-3f)Jack Slattery(1-0).

U12 Blue & Gold team news

U12 Central Region Results from last Monday:  09/09/19.
Well done to both teams who were joint winners of this competition. (Match reports below). Outstanding performances all year from the 30 players.

Ballymac Blue Team
Austin Stacks A 1-13
Ballymac Blue 2-08
Another entertaining game played between two excellent footballing teams. Ballymac started the brighter but unfortunately didn’t capitalise on their overall dominance in possession with scores on the board.
Some outstanding defending from our backline was the highlight of the first half.

Stacks got the better start in the second half and to their credit were more efficient in front of goals. Ballymac boys did bounce back and finish out the game the stronger team. Stacks deservedly took the spoils this time which left both teams finishing joint top of their third different competition this year. Credit to both teams who now have great respect and a healthy rivalry built up which will hopefully continue as these players develop.

Ballymac Gold Team
Austin Stacks B 3-05
Ballymac Blues 4-15

On Monday, Sept 9th our Gold Team traveled to Connolly Park in a must-win game.  As always our boys put in a fantastic team effort and finished joint winners of the Central Region Competition. The boys showed great heart and defended solidly.

In the first half we played with the wind and made great use of it leading 3-11 to 1-1 at half time.

In the second half Stacks made a good come back but our boys defended admirably and were a credit to their trainers.

Goals from Luke Griffin(2), Michael Quirke  and Jorge Garcia helped us secure our victory.

Congratulations to these super boys who always show such wonderful team spirit.

The next game for our U12 Boys is V John Mitchels which is due to be played on the

17th September.

Academy
The Academy will run as normal on Sunday morning next for U6 to U10 Boys and Girls.

U14 Girls

North Kerry Division 1

2 games following our earlier game v Austin Stacks took place this week .

Friday evening 6th September v KOR in Ballyrickard

Ballymacelligott 3-16 KOR 3-6

The score line here is misleading, a very improved KOR made life difficult for us & midway through the 2nd half they were only a point behind, but 2 goals & 3pts in the final 10mins saw us home .

Good displays from Kerry Hennessey, Abbey Leahy, Ciara Kerins , Roisin Rahilly , Rachel Griffen, Ciara Palmer  Alice Brosnan & Ella Quirke and encouraging to see Laura Sugrue and Lauren O Connor get on the scoreboard getting 4 & 2 points  respectively .

Tuesday 10th September in Ballymacelligott

Ballymacelligott 4-12 Abbeydorney 4-8

We are North Kerry Ladies U14 League  Div 1 winners !!!

A really entertaining game which saw both teams lead at different stages .

Abbeydorney were quick off the block getting 1-3 in first few minutes but we responded well to reel off 4 points . However, we conceded another goal & point to leave us 2-5 to 0-4 behind after 20mins , a purple patch with a Kate Collins goal & points from Ella Quirke brought us closer only for Abbeydorney to score a 3rd goal .

Again the girls responded and further points from Ella , Ciara Palmer and a brilliant goal by Ciara Kerins attacking from wing back had us level at halftime 3-4 to 2-6

Similar to 1st half Abbeydorney got off to a great start and reeled off 1-3 and it wasn’t looking good for the Ballymac girls , but displaying greater levels of fitness and a real determination they set about playing themselves back into the game .

Ciara Kerins to full back and Laura Kelly on at wing back gave us momentum Ella Quirke kicked 1-1 to bring her total to 1-4 on the night, Rachel Creedon & Jill Quirke, Roisin Rahilly and Laura Sugrue got 1 point each .

Ciara Palmer displaying great leadership with 1-2 in this period and with Charlotte Geary showing great maturity on the ball finding a Ballymac jersey each time she got possession.

Our defense worked hard on the night too Goalie Kerry Hennessey  , Rachel Griffen , Ciara Kerins and Collins sisters Anna and Kate outstanding. Alexia Weiss , Sarah Mason , Alice  Brosnan and super sun Laura Kelly made telling contributions . Roisin Rahilly at midfield was excellent and covered well .

Team & Scorers on the night

Kerry Hennesy, Anna Collins, Sarah Mason , Alexia Weiss, Ciara Kerins 1-0 , Rachel Griffen , Alice Brosnan, Roisin Rahilly 0-1, Ella Quirke1-4 Rachel Creedon 0-1 Kate Collins 1-0, Jill Quirke 0-1 , Charlotte Geary , Ciara Palmer 1-4 (1f) Laura Sugrue 0-1

Subs , Laura Kelly , Abbey Leahy, Kate Feeney, Aoibhinn Broderick, Lauren O Connor , Allie Tarrant

NK board represented by Frank Mc Loughlin presented the cup to captain Charlotte Geary to finish off a fantastic year for this group of girls.

Their achievements include:

Scartaglin Margurite Coakley blitz winners,

Community Games winners Kerry & Munster winners, National Community Games silver medalists,

North Kerry Ladies Div 1 League winners.

.

U12 Girls

Ballymac 4-11 to Na Gael 1-07

North Kerry Plate Final

On Wednesday Ballymac U12 girls played North Kerry Plate Final away to Na Gael – Gill and Anna captained the team, gave the last pieces of encouragement before throw in and it worked. Everyone played their best game of the year and we led  at half time 2 6 to 1 3 . The girls remembered a game in County League where we left a similar lead slip and they were adamant it would not happen again. In the end we won  4-11 to 1-07 but it was the work rate,  link up play and of course football that was most satisfying for parents and coaches to enjoy on the night.

U10 girls

We have the Annual Carmel O’ Connor Garda Blitz on Saturday 21st in Na Gaeil. No charge but donations on the day to the Irish Red Cross. Registration 10.30am and matches begin at 11am. Dont forget mouth guards and gum shields.
