Austin Stacks, Ballymac, Churchill, Claregalway, Eoin Ruadh/Plunkett, Firies, Glanmire and Moyvane.

This is always a great day for football so mark your calendar for a great days entertainment…

U16 Boys

Our U16 boys start their Tralee Board Competition on Sunday morning next when they play Austin Stacks in Connolly Park at 11.00pm.
The following Sunday they play Na Gaeil at home.

U14Boys:
Our U14 Boys played their last game of the year on Sunday last when they welcomed Cork side Eire Óg to Ballymac for a challenge match.

A couple of early goals put the visitors in control and despite our lads putting up a final score of 2-17 it was the Cork teams ability to strike for goals which saw them run out victors by five points.

The team, management and supporters can look back on the year with great satisfaction securing the Co League Division 3 in May and following this up winning the Castleisland District League A Final a couple of weeks ago.

Well done all.

U13 Boys Team

The u13 team play their Tralee District League Final against Austin Stacks on Sunday next with time and venue to be confirmed.

Good luck to them in this game.

U12 Boys Blue & Gold team news
Well done to our U12 Blue and Gold teams who won the Castleisland District Finals on Sunday last. Both teams defeated teams from Cordal.

Match Reports are as follows:

Blue Team,

Ballymac Blue 5 13 Cordal A 4 15

“Roy of the Rovers” is probably the best way to describe how Ballymac Blue Team overcame a 9 point deficit at one stage to claim victory in Castleisland District A Final on Sunday 22nd September.

Credit to both teams for producing a game of football that simply had everything to keep all in attendance on the edge of their seat until the final whistle. 9 goals and 28 points scored in 50 minutes, crossbar and upright hit on numerous occasions, football’s cleared off the line with some last ditch efforts, players playing through injuries, fantastic fielding and tackling, along with wonderful attacking football played to highest skill level from two evenly matched teams.

Cordal settled early in this game dominating possession and the scoreboard leading 2 06 to 1 00 after 15mins, but a strong finish to half from Ballymac had that back to 5 points by the short whistle where the score was 2 10 to 2 05 in favour of Cordal.

On the restart Ballymac had a greater urgency and focus in their play added 3 early points but Cordal were having none of this and hit Ballymac with a goal to maintain their 5 point margin, Ballymac to their credit showed great resolve and composure kicking a few valuable points but most importantly keeping Cordal pinned in their own half where eventually Ballymac got 2 badly needed goals. Cordal to their credit did counter attack very well keeping their score board ticking over never giving Ballymac the lead. However as the game heading towards the final minutes Ballymac got their 5th goal and immediately followed this with, what turned out to be the winning point.

This was a mammoth team performance from the boys in Blue which also brings to an end the 3 years this group of 14 players have played at U12 level gaining great respectability throughout the County and an ample amount of silverware in that duration, credit to these boys and their parents for all the efforts over last 3 years. “The World is your Oyster Boys” Ballymac Abú.

Gold Team,

Ballymac Gold  5-16 Cordal B 5-14  AET

On Sunday September 22nd our Ballymac Gold Team took on Cordal B in the Castleisland District Final. This was an exciting game from start to finish with some great scoring and defending by both teams.
Cordal got the better start with an early goal but our boys settled and goals from Michael Quirke,Gearoid Healy,Padraig Reidy and Sean Martin saw us leading at half time on a scoreline of 4-3 to Cordal’s 2-6.

The second half was full of intensity with some great football on display. We were ahead for most of the second half but Cordal continued to fight back. A late goal by Cordal saw them level the game.
Extra time would be needed to separate these two great footballing sides.

At the end of the first 5 minutes Cordal were ahead by 1 point. Our boys came out in the second half of extra time and showed us all what a wonderful ,hard working and talented bunch of boys we have in Ballymac!! A goal from Luke Griffin and points from Michael Quirke (2),Eoghan Joy and Sean Martin saw us secure this well earned victory.

From number 1 to number 16 these boys played their hearts out and supported each other.

Great credit must go to team management for their fantastic work all year.

Thanks also to the wonderful supporters who cheered these boys on in all weather conditions all year.

Well done boys.
