Senior Football League

We wish to sincerely thank out Senior Team and Management for their commitment all year.

This was a particularly difficult year for all of them with no final date for the last round of the County League known for over three months.

Its a credit to them all to have put in the effort they did all year especially on Sunday when they lost by a point.

Frank O’Rahilly,  his management team and the senior players  have been a positive influence at senior team level all year and have been a great for the club at all levels. It has been a privilege to have them involved and to support them all year.

We wish to thank our supporters who travelled to Dromid on Sunday and to all the games all year. Despite the loss on Sunday it  was a really good year supporting our senior team.

Match Report from Sunday:

A hugely tense and exciting game in Dromid Pearses resulted in a late victory for the home side ensuring their survival in division 2. Dromid started the game well with the opening two points before Ballymac levelled the game.

The teams then traded points back and forth with Ballymac edging into a one point lead. Dromid then took a well worked goal to leave them with a two point lead which is how it remained at the break after the teams scored another 2 points apiece. Ballymac exploded into life with an unanswered 1-2 which looked to give them a huge advantage on a day when conditions were poor but to Dromid’s credit, they forced huge turnovers and turned the tide kicking 5 of the next 6 points.

With Ballymac trailing by a point entering the final few minutes they heroically turned the tide and chipped over two points to put them within striking distance of victory. However, the home side would not be denied and with two huge turnovers they hit the visitors on the break to get two late points to send them into a one point lead. To Ballymac’s great credit they battered the home team’s goal for a late winner but it was not to be and the home team survived on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-13.

Coiste na nÓg Medal Presentation

On Sunday last in Ballygarry House Hotel County Senior Player Tommy Walsh presented the medals to our U12, U14 and U16 teams for 2019.

2019 was once again a very successful year for Coiste na nÓg with our U12 and U14 Blue and Gold Teams winning their respective Divisions of the County League. This is a great achievement and all those players with County League medals are a privileged few. Many players go through their young playing careers, without one and it was obvious on Sunday that each player was very proud and appreciative of their County League medal.

The Club wish to Thank Tommy Walsh for   presenting the medals. We also wish to thank all our mentors at U12, U14 and U16 who give so much of their time to the young players. It is a big commitment and means a lot to the players.

We also wish to thank the players and their families for their support in so many ways all year. Its been an exceptional year with all of this team work by everyone. The organisation of Our Coiste na nÓg all year and the medal presentation on Sunday  has been a credit to Chairman and Secretary Declan O’Connell and Ger Collins as well as Coaching Officer Stephen O’Brien. Many Thanks to you all.
