COISTE NA NOG
U12’s Ballymac 2-06 Na Gaeil 0-13
After winning Div 3 of the County League in Phase 1 Ballymac were placed in Div 1 for Phase 2 of the competition. We are competing against Na Gaeil, Austin Stacks, Kenmare, Kilcummin and Laune Rangers. Last Sunday evening we started our County League campaign with a home game against Na Gaeil and were unlucky to come out on the losing side by the minimum of margins, with Na Gaeil getting the winning score in added time. We started the game brightly and had plenty ball but found it hard to get scores and we went in at half time trailing by two points. Early in the second half we were trailing by five points but then we took over and the lads tied the scores with ten minutes to go. It was tit for tat for the remaining ten minutes where both teams gave it everything and we were unlucky not to leave with a share of the spoils. Great credit must go to the lads who put in fierce work rate over the course of the game. We play round 2 of the league next Sunday evening but the fixtures have not been published yet. Training continues Tuesday and Friday this week at the usual time of 7pm.

U12 Gold Team
The Ballymac u12 gold team got off to a flyer in division 1 of the county league with two quick goals by Donal Daly and a point by Gary Lynch which settled any nerves we had before the whistle, Kieran Slattery pulled off some fine saves in the first half and our midfield of Luke O’ Connell and Alfanso Marquiez did some powerful work up and down the field. We introduced our subs midway through the first half and they did us proud, with Darragh Cassidy, Adam Wharton, Jamie Sugrue and Adam Walker all playing well. Into the second half and we had the wind in our favour and we scored another couple of goals with Luke O’ Connell scoring 1-1 Gary Lynch 1-2 and Luke McGill got a super goal. Our backs kept out any threat by Na Gael with Mossie Brennan, Eoin Creedon and James Kenny doing trojan work in defence. Jack McElligott, Adam Wharton and Oisin Murphy when asked upon didn’t let the team down with their determination and their will to fight for everything. All in all it was a great performance by the gold team. Well done to all 16 squad players. Final score was Ballymac 8-10 Na Gael 3-4.

We had a great turnout from both age groups at the Academy on Sunday morning. Best on the day for the U8’s were Ciaran O’Connell, Con Sheahan, John Leen O’Shea, and Caoimhin Murphy. Next for the U8’s is a Go Games Blitz on Wednesday night the 27th of May at 19.00. Can all players please be at the pitch at 6.45pm to facilitate team selection. CAILINI FAOI 12
The under 12 girls began their division 2a county league campaign at home to Spa, Killarney with an eight point win on a scoreline of 3-9 to 2-4. The result wasn’t as comfortable as the scoreline suggests until the second period of the secondhalf, when the girls finally began to take their chances. Until then Spa were always in contention, but our girls couldn’t be faulted for their efforts throughout, even when things weren’t going their way. Against the wind in the first half, Cora Savage opened the scoring with a point followed by another from Catriona Sommers. Emily O Donoghue chipped in with a point on the 10 minute to leave the scores level at 3 points each. After lots of pressure we got in for a good team goal from Emily to put us three in front but Spa responded with a goal of their own to level matters. We finished the half with another point from the boot of Cora to leave us ahead by the minimum at half time. The secondhalf began with our girls dominating possession and this began to pay off. Against the wind we got in for two goals from Catriona Sommers and Cora Savage to put us in a commanding position. Yvonne Hurley got on the scoreboard with a point followed by two more from Cora to leave us ahead by eight at the finish. Best on the night was Grainne Galvin in goals, Roisin Long and Millie Dunne in defence our midfielders Emily and Catriona and Cora and Kate O Connor in the forwards. Next game is away to Castlegregory on Wednesday next 27th.
