Ballymac GAA Club Grounds Remain Closed.

We have got guidelines from Croke Park that clubs can return to training once safe distance can be maintained but until certain criteria are fulfilled by clubs our  Grounds remain closed until 29th June. Requirements include the club chairpersons, secretaries, coaches and players all completing an online coronavirus educational module, while a Covid supervisor must be appointed for each team.

The only activity we are insured for at the moment is  normal maintenance /grass cutting etc until the

Return to GAA Activity

This week we were given the welcome news that the GAA could start to look at reopening.

However due to the ongoing threat posed by COVID19 to our families and communities retuning will require a lot of pre planning and preparation.

This will be confounded by the fact that a lot of our volunteers are also preparing to go back to their workplaces and/or reopen their businesses.

The reopening process brings with it a lot of personal responsibility for everyone using our premises and everyone taking part in our games.

This is a summary Checklist of things that have to be done BEFORE we reopen:

1. 15 Page Document that was sent by Croke Park has to be circulated to everyone and read by everyone PRIOR to returning. This is on our web site www.ballymacgaa.com

2. Everyone has to familiarise themselves with the basic Medical information as outlined in this document.

3. All actions in section 2 have been undertaken to prepare the facilities for the reopening.

4. Chairperson and Secretary or their nominees have completed the on line Gaelic Games Education model.

5. Each Team Prior to training has appointed a Covid Supervisor and they have completed the on line Gaelic Games Education model.

6. A Timetable has been set out so that individual teams know the training times & allows for cleaning up and no overlapping of players from individual teams.

7. All participants and/or parents have completed the on line Gaelic Games Education model.

8. A system is in place for completion of player Health Questionnaire and recording of Temperatures.

All players (parents or guardians in the case of underage players) and personnel involved in training must complete the mandatory Gaelic Games online education module which will be available on the GAA eLearning portal (further information will be provided when its available) and record or document a certificate of completion for the Covid Supervisor prior to any resumption of training and/or playing activities

This online module will include information such as:

COVID-19 disease update information (including symptoms)

Information on Club facilities use

Transport guidelines

Information on Club facilities use

The Role of the Covid Supervisor

Health Questionnaire

Reporting protocols

Contact tracing

Personal, facility and equipment hygiene standards

Training protocols

Transport guidelines

Education materials – posters etc – will be visible throughout GAA facilities as per section 3 of this document.

Players (parents or guardians in the case of underage players) and personnel will sign the Health Questionnaire indicating that they understand the risks involved in participation, that they are participating on a voluntary basis and that all participants may opt-out at the start or at any time before or after resumption of training and playing activities.

It is essential that everyone in the club works together to ensure compliance with these guidelines.

Our web site will be updated with all the latest information.

Biggest ever coaching survey conducted in Irish sport

Stephen O’Brien Our Coaching Officer has sent out this suryey for completion by all of our club coaches. If you have not received it please contact Stephen. We encourage all of our coaches to provide feedback.

Letter below from Dr Peter Hogan giving the background to this mammoth undertaking.A chara,

The biggest ever coaching survey conducted in Irish sport will see the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Association join forces to help shape the future development of Gaelic games.

Over the next three weeks, coaches at every level of football, hurling and camogie are being encouraged and urged to make their voices heard via the online survey. The Gaelic games Coach Survey 2020 is a unique opportunity for coaches to provide an insight into their role, and their needs. It is the first time that such an approach has been taken across the entire Gaelic games community.

Targeting more than 10,000 responses, it makes it one of the most comprehensive coaching studies ever undertaken.

This survey will look at all our coaches’ experience, their practice and how coaches see coaching into the future. We are also very interested in coaches’ experience of coach education, and what coaches feel are their own learning needs. Those people that have dropped out of coaching are also part of this survey, to help us understand why they are no longer coaching, and whether there is anything that we can put in place to encourage them back into coaching.

This survey is across all of the Gaelic games Associations. So, if you are a coach of Camogie, Hurling, Handball, Gaelic football, Ladies Gaelic football, or Rounders your feedback is important. Equally, we are interested in the full breadth of coaches, so it’s not a case of getting one coach from a club to respond, the experience of each coach, regardless of your background or how long you have been coaching is important.

Historically, we have not undertaken this type of task, and it is a mammoth undertaking. So, we are asking all club secretaries to circulate this survey amongst all the coaches within your club.

To access the survey, you can contact Stephen O’Brien our coaching Officer.

Coaches who complete the survey will be offered the chance to take part in a draw, whereby three respondents will win Coaching Master Class sessions. The Coaching Master Class will involve a coaching session for the winning coaches’ own team, and a coaching workshop for all of the coaches within their Club.

Thank you for your support in this. The feedback that we receive will be crucial in planning coaching and coach education programmes in the coming years. The more detailed the level of feedback the more specific the analysis can be and also potentially produce more localised reports.
