It was great to be back at football and the game was exciting and close from start to finish.
The teams were evenly matched and this was reflected in the half time score of Ballymac 0.9 Churchill 1.6.
The second half was just as intense as the first,  with both sides level and 5 minutes remaining on the clock.
Ballymac just edged out by 2 points at the final whistle to leave the final score at Ballymac 0.15 to Churchill 1.10.

On Sunday next our team are home to St Michael’s Foilmore in Ballymac at 2.30pm in Round 2. This is another vital game and we wish the team and management every success.

U12 Boys

Our under 12 boys have been back in training for 3 weeks and putting in a massive effort under new coach Frank Donavan. Each training session has been fully attended by the boys who are really binding well and playing as a team.

We had our first taste of championship action at home on Sunday against a strong An  Ghaeltacht  squad.

Our blue team had a nervous start and went 4 points behind before Eoghan Joy opened our account. Slowly but steadily we got into the game with some great passing moves and scores from Michael Quirke and Padraig Reidy. Cian Gilroy was rock solid in the full back position. In the second half we pulled away and at the final whistle we took the victory  5-10 to 2-08.

Our gold team settled well into the game with Shane Cassidy putting in some fine saves. Our midfield pairing of Liam Rahilly and Jack Collins dominated the centre of the pitch with Graham West our top scorer. The boys came out on top at the final whistle with a score of 5-15 to 2-07.

Our U12 boys travelled to Na Gael for round 2 of the County League on Sunday last..

Blue Team

The blue team lined out against a very strong na Gael 11 who took the upper hand in the first ten mins. The boys settled into a lovely flowing rhythm and both Darragh McMahon and Jamie Tarrant had strong games in the backs.
Scores by Sean Martin and Liam Rahily put us ahead by half time.
Na Geal started the second half strongly and went ahead again but the boys dug deep and dominated for the next 10 mins and at the end it was Na Gael who were lucky to salvage a draw. final score 5-10 to 5-10.

Gold Team

The Gold team started strong and pulled well ahead with some nice scores by Cathal Carr and Adrian o Connor. Some excellent defending by Kyran Boyle and Fionn Enright kept us ahead at half time. In the second half Na Gael attacked well scoring some excellent points from play. Ballymac had some good chances but too many wides cost us the game. Final Score 3-17 to 5-08.

Next Sunday the boys are away  to Kerins O’Rahillys at 6pm .

U14 Boys

Training continues this coming week for our U14 boys.

Boys U16
Ballymac U16 s entertained Ardfert in the first round of the county league in Ballymac last night Monday 20th July.

Both sides were even in the first fifteen minutes, Maurice O’Connell scoring the opening point for Ballymac .

Ardfert seemed to be more dangerous going forward and this was the case in the 20 th & 23 rd minute when scoring 2 goals to lead 2 04 – 0 03 points after 23 minutes. A spectacular point from 45 yards from Donal Daly was followed by 2 points in succession from
Maurice O’ Connell to reduce the deficit to 4 points .
Ardfert replied with 2 points of their own to push further ahead . Ballymac replied through Gary Lynch & Niall Collins to reduce the deficit once again as the interval approached. However 2 further goals & 3 points put Ardfert in a commanding position at the interval on a scoreline of 4 -09 to 0 -08.

Ardfert played with the advantage of a slight breeze in the second half. A few early scores put Ardfert in the driving seat , and never looked back from here on . Michael Prendergast hit the net for a wonderful Goal for Ballymac but it was only a consolation score at this stage . Congrats to Ardfert on a fine performance, and congrats to Ballymac for fighting right to the end .

Thanks to all parents who supported us on the night. On Monday night the 27th July our U16s travel to Connolly park to play The Home side at 7pm and on Monday 3rd August at 7 they will play Kerins O’Rahillys in Strand Road.

We wish the team & mentors Roland Rogers Martin Lowe Eddie O’Connell & John Rice the very best of luck .
