Ballymacelligott GAA Club Notes 24th January 2021

At our recent AGM it was announced that Frank O’Rahilly was standing down as Manager of the senior team and George Savage as selector. Both Frank and George gave a tremendous service to our club and our players for the past two years. Frank has a very young family and for him the commitment was enormous. You both put in so much energy, passion, and commitment into the senior squad and it showed. The past two years were exhilarating ones for all of us following the senior team.  We had a lot of success which would not have been possible without the big contributions from Manager Frank and all our selectors. We were always so proud to support you all and none more so than when we watched the team on the web during lockdown.
Our senior team continues to improve at a remarkable rate, and the years ahead hold a lot of excitement. A Great foundation has been laid. Many Thanks Frank and George. You are the epitome of “we are Ballymac”

Child Welfare Officer

Every Club in the country has an appointed Children’s Officer. Our Club is no exception and Joanne Long has been our very competent and dedicated Children’s Officer.
The tasks of a Children’s’ Officer are many and here is some of the work involved:

In conjunction with the executive Ensuring that all of our coaches and volunteers are carefully recruited and selected and that they accept responsibility for ensuring the wellbeing of children in their care.
Being available to parents and children and affording them an opportunity to voice any concerns that they may have.
Oversee the implementation of good child protection and welfare practices within the Club.
Ensuring that members, coaches, team mentors, administrators, parents/guardians and spectators sign up to and adhere to our Code of Behaviour.
Reviewing the effectiveness of our Child Protection procedures and policies in the club on an ongoing basis.
Attending County meetings for the club that involvediscussions on all aspects of Child welfare in the club and the role of the Children’s Officer. (in recent times these are held on zoom)
Remembering the official opening of Ballymac pitch on 11th May 1980

This week we uploaded some historic reading material for you to enjoy at the weekend. It is the match program from the official opening of our club pitch on the 11th May 1980.
Forty Years ago…What a great read! What history!
As we turn the pages, we fondly remember some of the authors and those mentioned who are no longer with us and the great service they gave to Ballymacelligott GAA Club and Kerry GAA. Imíonn na daoine ach fanann na cuimhnte.
You can access the program by logging on to http/ballymacgaa.com . It takes a few seconds for the program to load and you can click from page to page. If anyone has any old club printed material please contact us and we will scan and return. We hope you enjoy the trip down memory lane as much as we did.

Can you give €2 pw to Ballymac GAA Club?

We really appreciate the support we have got from our play ball players every week.  The minimum purchase of €2.00 per week adds up to at the end of the week. Alas, we are not playing at the moment. When our players return, we want our pitches and facilities to be in top class condition and anyone involved in our weekly draw is a partner in this work. We are Ballymac. We value our GAA Club where we all belong.

The results of our Play Ball for the 18th January 2021 (totally online due to Covid19 restrictions) are as follows.
The numbers drawn in this week’s play Ball lotto were: 29,1,3 and 20.
There was no winner of the Jackpot of €1180.00
Congratulations to the lucky-dip winner Mike Sweeney.
We appreciate your support, Mike.
We thank everyone who supported Ballymac GAA Play Ball Lotto this week.
