Well Done to our U15 Player Shane Gilroy

Well Done to our U15 Player Shane Gilroy on demonstrating his research skills and interest in Ballymac GAA.

Our U15 Club player Shane Gilroy attends second year in  St Pat’s School in Castleisland. The Pats transition year students  got Shane’s 2nd year students to do projects as part of their modules for the future leader’s program see (** below ) . Shane,in undertaking his project for the fifth year  students researched the history of his own club Ballymac GAA. He outlined the history of the club on the playing field in one graphic and its such an admirable summary.

Shane had the interest to  research his project thoroughly  by listening to archive Radio Kerry’s Recordings of Terrace Talk and other web sites and written material.

We are fortunate to have a young player showing so much interest and sharing his knowledge with everyone in the club. The graphic from Shane attached is an excellent summary of Ballymac GAA Club.

**The “Future Leaders Transition Year Programme” is a joint initiative from the GAA and the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST).

It is a cross-curricular programme comprising of a series of modules designed to encourage maturity, initiative, responsibility and leadership skills in pupils.

The Programme gives pupils the knowledge and skills to support all roles required in the effective staging of Gaelic Games.

As part of the Programme students are challenged to organise and run both on-field and off-field events for younger students.

U15 Boys:

We had a great turnout from our U15 players for the 2km runs last weekend and again this weekend with over 20 players taking part on their own and uploading the photos to our coaching & games coaches.  In addition to this the lads loved the zoom class with Vinny Horan who they look up to as one of our best senior players and full-time fitness trainer.  We had 23 on the zoom class last Thursday night. These are great initiatives and will be great for the lads to get some exercise while being part of their Club.
