Good Luck to our Senior Management Team
At the clubs executive meeting last Friday night Ruraí O’Rahilly and his Management team were ratified as the group to take charge of our Senior Team for 2021. Ruraí’s selectors going forward are Tom Shea and Frank Rahilly. Kevin Leen is in charge of Logistics and Aidan Savage takes charge of Statistics.  Ruraí has trained our underage teams, school teams with the CBS and has been a player and selector for our senior team. His leadership and communication skills are well known.  We in Ballymac GAA are lucky to have someone of that calibre in the Parish and from the Parish taking over the senior management role. He is a great role model for our young players. We look forward to supporting you all, once the season starts up.

Hugh Congratulations to Our All Star!
Congratulationsand very well done to Ballymacelligott Club man Tomás O’Connor who has been named on the Joe McDonagh All Stars Team for 2020. We are very proud and honoured to have this mighty dual player in our midst. A gentleman both on and off the pitch!! Enjoy this special moment Tomas, it is very well deserved and earned.

Health & Wellbeing Committee

Buddy Time has arrived.
Buddy is helping our young future stars keep fit over lockdown! He was seen flying around the Parish on Sunday  morning for a while making sure all the girls and boys were ready.

GET UP & GET MOVING! LET’S HAVE SOME FUN!

Pledge today to squeeze in a read on Thursday 25 February & sit down and read & relax for 15 minutes on the day itself.
Reading is one of the best things families can do together – or apart if the house is starting to feel crowded!
On Thursday 25 February Ballymac GAA Health & Wellbeing Committee is encouraging, adults and children  of all ages to get reading.
Did you know that “IRELAND READS” It is anew national day to celebrate reading
Why? Because taking some time for yourself to relax and do the things you enjoy (like reading) is important to help look after your mental wellbeing.
Take the pledge log in below and see how many minutes people all over Ireland will be squeezing in to read on Thursday 25 February.
Just let us know how many hours or minutes you would like to pledge to read by logging on to the clubs web site ballymacgaa.com and following the link.
Ireland Reads is a public libraries initiative, in partnership with publishers, booksellers, authors and others under the Government’s ‘Keep Well’ campaign

U15 Boys:
We had a great turnout from our U15 players for the 2km runs last weekend and again this weekend with over 20 players taking part on their own and uploading the photos to our coaching & games coaches. In addition to this the lads loved the zoom class with Vinny Horan who they look up to as one of our best senior players and full-time fitness trainer. We had 23 on the zoom class last Thursday night. These are great initiatives and will be great for the lads to get some exercise while being part of their Club. We sincerely thank Vinnie for giving his time and putting in such a big effort to train the younger players while in Lockdown.

County Coiste na nÓg Updates:
Please find attached an update on the current position in relation to Coiste na nÓg activities.

While all activities are paused for now, we ask Clubs to ensure that all coaches have the following three steps completed which are now required by law:

1. Garda vetting

(Must be completed every three years so if previously Garda Vetted between 2016 to 2018 they will need to reapply again)

2. GAA Child Safeguarding 1

3. The GAA foundation award at minimum

We want to remind Clubs that Kerry GAA Coaching and Games have a number of training sessions on their YouTube platform to keep players motivated during the current lockdown.

comment on.  Kerry Coiste na nÓg will  not be sending out any groups/fixtures over the

next couple of weeks or until we have a potential start date for our competitions.

.

As before, we continue to urge clubs to follow the current guidelines. As the numbers decrease, the vaccination continues and the evenings begin to stretch, we can be hopeful that we can return to our playing pitches over the coming months, but until then we must continue to adhere to the nationwide restrictions.
