Covid Update for Clubs in the 26 Counties
A chara,
I know you will be aware by now of the positive announcement by the Irish Government yesterday in relation to the further relaxing of restrictions for society generally and for Gaelic Games in particular.
As you will appreciate, we need to receive further clarity on aspects of what was announced last evening but broadly speaking the following is what is proposed in the coming weeks:
From 10th May – Outdoor training is permitted at adult level in pods of a maximum of 15 people (including coaches). However, games are not allowed and indoor facilities must remain closed.
From 7th June (and subject to the Public Health situation at the time) – Club games will be permitted at all levels but must be played “behind closed doors”.
We are currently liaising with the relevant Departments to seek further information on the finer details of what will be permitted at various points in the recovery plan. For the moment, we would ask for your patience in relation to questions you and the broader membership no doubt have in relation to the various return dates and the specifics of what will be allowed. It is our intention to issue a more detailed communication to Clubs and Counties next week and once further information is available.
In the interim, we would remind all Clubs in the 26 Counties of the following:
Until May 10th, only training for underage teams (non-contact and in pods of 15) is permitted. “Underage teams” means any registered team at U-18 level or below.
All indoor facilities must remain closed (exception: toilet facilities).
Fundraising events on GAA property are not currently permitted.
Gym facilities must remain closed (exception: Senior Inter County players may use their relevant Club Gym for individual training as long as they are following the advice in the Inter County Return to Training and Play document)
Inter County Challenge Games/U20 and Minor Training
The Allianz Leagues in Hurling will return on the weekend of May 8th/9th and in football on the weekend of May 15th/16th.
The broad announcements yesterday did not make any reference to when Challenge games will be permitted at inter county level. Nor was there any reference to when inter county U20 and Minor teams may return to training.
We are currently seeking clarity on these two points and will communicate directly with County Secretaries in this context once we receive it.
In the interim, we would ask for your patience while we complete this work and we look forward to communicating in detail with you all again as soon as possible in relation to the resumption of GAA activity.

Coiste na nÓg
It was wonderful to see all the boys and girls returning to training pods during the week. Our pitch is in excellent condition and it was great to have our gates open!
Well done on the way all of our coaches handled our return to training. The added burden of following all covid protocols and ensuring everyone was safe fell to them and to all the parents of our children. We are very grateful as a club to have a good team of coaches and interested parents that ensures our return to play was safe.

Membership
We thank everyone who has paid their membership so far this year. The on-line facility to pay membership is on the club force app and the link is also on our web site. Everyone who returns to play, coach, mentor needs to have membership paid. This is vital so that everyone is covered to train and play going forward.
Academy Returns on May 9th.
Our eagerly awaited return for our Academy will on Sunday next t May 9th at 11am and all are welcome we will have all covid regulations in place and anybody who wants to help out please get in contact with us. Membership also needs to be paid and membership can be paid via our web site: www.ballymacgaa.ie or the clubforce app.

Return to Play
We were delighted to welcome back our under age players in the past week. It is great to see so many smiling faces passing through the gates. We had a fantastic first night out and the turn out bodes well for the year ahead.
There were 18 girls at U12 training with coaches Kieran O’Connor, Kieran Savage and Paudie O’Connor. There were 14 girls in attendance at U14 training with coaches Don Brosnan, John O’Rourke and Tom Daly. The U16’s had a whopping 20 at their training session, with S&C coach Michaela Murphy and coaches Donal Rahilly, Anthony Griffin, Mike Broderick and Sean Hennessy. The Minor Ladies had 11 players with coaches Anthony Curran and Stephen O’Brien.
We are looking forward to seeing all of our Senior Ladies back on Monday the 10th of May.
Last Man Standing
We are now left with just 6 contestants for round 6. We came very close to a winner, with one contestant through to the next round and the other 5 relying on Leicester, who left it very late to score their winner. The remaining participants are reminded to have their entries for next weekend in by 3pm on Friday 7th of May…
Safeguarding requirements
Coaches and mentors are reminded that safeguarding training must be undertaken ahead of the upcoming season. New coaches/potential coaches must undertake a temporary SG1 Course and existing coaches, who have already completed a SG1 course in the last 3-5 years, must undertake SG1 Refresher Course. Please contact our club secretary for further information.

You may wish to help out in some way.one hour a week, two hours a week….do not wish to attend meetings but would like to contribute to the club in some way? We appreciate any support we get. We have two PROS in the club and next year we are looking for a PRO for Cóiste na nÓg so then we have three. Ballymac GAA Play Draw for a Jackpot of €8800.00 took place in Ballymac GAA pitch On Monday 26th April in glorious sunshine.
Aidan Savage Assistant Secretary of the Club and Local Link Kerry and Jer Lynch Chairman of The Clubs Lotto Committee did the draw. Also in attendance was James Ryall from Ryall Buses who supply buses to Local Link Kerry. Aidan explained that Local Link Kerry have two services to Ballymacelligott. The R17 Ballymac-Kielduff-Tralee every Friday. The R72 route is also on Friday from Gortatlea, Ballydwyer, Ballyseedy, Bus Stop Manor West , Bus Stop University Hospital , Casement Station and Denney Street. Pre booking seats is essential.
