ST. KIERANS

The St. Kierans v Kilcummin  Round 3 game in the Co. Championship due to take place this weekend has been called off.
JUNIORS

Our Junior team are awaiting the losers of the game between Gneevguilla and Clounmacon to find out who they will face in the semi final of the junior league.  This game is due to take place next weekend.
FAOI 14

We played three Castleisland District league games in the space of the last week. First up was Knock Brosna at home in Ballymac.   We were full of hope entering this game and felt that we had a good chance of victory.  We played very well throughout with very good performances by Dean Lenihan and Johnny Lowe in particular.

In a tight game Knock Brosna got a vital goal with minutes remaining and they ran out winners with five points to spare

Our second game came the following night v Desmonds. The town team were superior to us in every part of the field.  The Desmonds were bolstered by ten older boys whose strength and physicality could not be matched by our lads.  Desmonds ran out comfortable winners on the night.
Our third game came at home to Mitchels .  Again we knew we had a good chance to take the spoils.  The game was a tight affair like the Knock game.  Our boys were well up for it David and Liam were to the fore ably assisted by the likes of Ciaran and Bryan.

There was nothing between the sides as we entered the last ten minutes.  However Mitchels got the break with a well worked goal.  Our mistakes were proving costly and ones from which the boys will have to learn from.  These tight games will stand to the boys in time and with better application they will see disappointment turn to joy.

FAOI 13
We started our Coiste Tra Li league against Austin Stacks.  The Stacks U 14 had the previous weekend won the all Ireland U14 div 1 title and this gave us plenty of focus for the task we faced with their U 13 team.  Ballymac were not found wanting and a great game of football ensued.

At half time the sides were 4pts a piece in a very tight game.  Our defense rode its  luck on occasion.  Tim Polman Daamen deputised in goal and was strong.

Darragh Sweeney gave a master class in defending and wasn’t going to be pushed off any ball by the tough stacks attackers.  The second half opened up and a hungrier and fitter Stacks side got the vital goals to end our hopes of an opening win  Final score Ballymac 1-8 Stacks 3-10

This was the first outing for our u 13 boys which is made up of the younger boys of the u 14 panel and the older boys if the u 12 panel.

We look forward to an improvement in fortunes when we play our next game to Churchill .

FAOI 12 CAILINI

On last Thursday night our U12 girls team travelled to Killorglin to take on Laune Rangers in the quarter final of the Co. League.  Our girls gave a superb display and came away with a most comprehensive victory.  This win now qualifies them for a semi final against Legion and a win here will see our U12 girls qualify for a Co. Final for the second year in a row.

MUNSTER FINAL

WEDDING BELLS

Congratulations to Maurice O Rahilly and Dawn O Sullivan on their recent wedding.  Although ‘Goose’ is better known for his exploits on the Soccer field he has played football for Ballymac since his underage days and continues to play with our Junior team.  All the Club wish them well in their future together.
