The Ballymacellligott U13 team who  were victorious in Castleisland District,Central Region and Tralee/St Brendan’s League’s during 2021 and were presented with their medals on Sunday last  by Kerry Senior Player Diarmaid O’Connor.

Ballymac Senior & Coiste na nÓg AGMs.

The main theme running through tonight’s Ballymac Club AGM and the Coiste na nÓg AGM was the importance of coaches and a good underage structure feeding our senior teams.

Both meetings acknowledged the hard work done at Club Level by all coaches especially during the past two years.

The work of the team co-ordinations was especially applauded by the senior and Coiste na nÓg officers.  They are the organisers who deal with notifications of players, games, pitches, training and feeding PRO with match reports and photos.

Both meetings were very positive and all the work done and the achievements from players and teams well documented by both Runaí’s reports. Full reports available on our web site ballymagaa.com

2021 despite all the restrictions was a good year for our club with many firsts.

Our Senior got promoted to Division 1 which brought great honour and great pride to the club.

Under Coaching Officer Stephen O’Brien, we ran our first ever Club Summer Camp and had unprecedented numbers at our Academy.

We took part in County Leagues at U11, U13, U15 and U17 with great success. U13s winning three competition, U15 two and the U17s two.

Thanks to Treasurer Mike Brosnan for his accounting skills all year. It was a tough year financially. Our second pitch is now fully paid for and this is a massive achievement by our club especially with all the lockdowns and barriers to fundraising over the past two years.

Thanks to Jer Lynch and his lotto committee we went on line with our Play Ball Lotto in April. We got marvellous support from our community for this and thanks to all our supporters of the lotto. It has helped keep our club going all year.

Thanks to the trojan work of our Health & Wellbeing Officer Oonagh O’Rahilly Ballymac GAA achieved Healthy Club Status and we were introduced to “Buddy” for the first time.

A special Thanks to our Runaí who was landed unexpectedly with double the normal work due to Covid.   We were blessed to have Fionnán Fitzgerald in that role and to have someone with such good IT skills. During lockdown he facilitated teams meeting for all teams so that they could have contact with their coaches, Officer meetings over Zoom and then Microsoft Teams. Managing the pitches without a hitch and dealing with all the added administration involved with Covid which was onerous to say the least.   Míle Buíochas Fionnán.

The past year was a challenging one for everyone and none more so than our Chairman Mike Sweeney. Despite being ill, Mike kept the flag flying and ensured all the club teams and sub committees were fully  supported in their work. We hope 2022 brings some respite and more success under Mike’s leadership.

At senior level Fionnán Fitzgerald (Runaí), Mike Brosnan (Treasurer), Stephen O’Brien (Coaching Officer), Oonagh O’Rahilly (Health & Wellbeing Officer) and Maureen O’Shea (PRO) leave their respective roles. All were thanked and praised for their hard work and commitment to the Club.

Joanne Long is the new Club PRO. Joanne brings a wealth of experience to her role as PRO. She has been Children’s Officer for ten years, runs the shop, is a member of the Health & Well Being Committee and loves Ballymac GAA with a passion.  We wish her every success in her new role.

Chairman and Secretary of Coiste na nÓg Declan O’Connell and Ger Collins also finished their term. The three years, while they were in charge saw unprecedented success for the club at underage level.

The incoming Chairman of Coiste na nÓg is Kieran Savage and the new Runaí is Sinead Joy. We wish them both every success.
