The Ballymac GAA faithful on the parade.

Club Senior Team

Our Ballymac Senior Men had their first game in the County League Division 1 against Spa Gaa at home in Ballymac on Sunday.

It was a beautiful day for football, with a good home and visiting support.

Spa started the better side and got an early lead with the aid of a strong breeze. Half-time score was Spa 3-6 Ballymac 0-5.

Ballymac came out fighting in the second half and matched Spa point for point but Spa’s goals won them the game.

Donal Daly and Maurice O’Connell made their debut on to the senior panel today and each scored a point.

Final score Spa 4-11 Ballymac 1-10.

Up next is Gneeveguilla away on April 3rd 2022.

All Support welcomed

Academy

What a Sunday to welcome our Academy superstars back to the field. The sun shone just as bright as the smiles of our nearly 30 Under 5 years players. We were thrilled to see so many new faces on the pitch today and welcome back our veterans who delighted in showing off all the skills they’ve been honing over the winter. We can’t wait to work with them all over the coming months.

A huge thank you to our volunteer coaches new and old without whom our Academy wouldn’t be possible. New players and volunteer coaches to support our under-age players always welcome – no experience necessary! See you all next Sunday for more fun and games.

Senior Ladies

Clounmacon/Moyvane 4-04
Ballymacelligott 4-12

The Senior ladies season got underway on Sunday with the Donal Curtain Cup round 1 game v Clounmacon/Moyvane in Knockanure. On a great pitch the game was end to end football. Ballymac were fast out of the blocks with a goal from Roisin Rahilly and a point from a free by Ellie McElligott. An Eve Creedon goal followed to leave the score 2-01 to 0-01. Two more points from Roisin and one from Ella Quirke was followed by a flurry of scores from the hosts which left the score at the small whistle Clounmacon 2-03 Ballymac 2-04.

Having the strong wind in the second half Ballymac pushed on from the start. A great midfield platform of Aisling and Keelin and Emily O Brien at centre back set the tone. Points from Roisin (4) and Ella (4) put us well ahead. Late goals from Ellie Mc and Sinead McKeown put the game to bed. Overall a fine win and a very promising start to the season. Well done also to keeper Kerry and backs Millie and Ciara who put in great performances on the day.
