Ballymac Senior B team

Ballymac began their campaign in the Development League on Saturday evening 26th March against John Mitchel’s in Mitchel’s.

Ballymac started the game well – a pointed free from Adam Sheehy after Adam Joy won a kickout. This was replicated soon after as Joy won a kickout and Sheehy pointed from play.

The next point came from Joy himself after Barry Lyons intercepted a clearance from the Mitchel’s keeper.

After about 10 minutes Mitchel’s were denied a goal chance when Kieran Slattery made a great save.

Ballymac were also denied a goal when the Mitchel’s keeper saved an effort from the penalty spot. Ballymac worked well and the midfield pairing of Broderick and Sheehy produced some great attacking opportunities.

Conor Brick added 3 points to the tally, Barry Lyons a further pointed effort and Adam Joy found the back of the net to leave Ballymac ahead at halftime with a score line of 1-07 to 1-02.

The second half saw Ballymac reduced to 13 men, however thanks to great defensive work and tireless effort from the backs Ballymac managed to press on.

Cathal Dunne was introduced and scored the first point of the second half for Ballymac and Brian Cassidy added another soon after.

Mitchel’s scored a goal and a well worked effort was fisted over the bar by James Kenny to steady the ship.

Gary Lynch worked hard from the midfield passing the ball through and hit a high one into the square where Brian Cassidy was on hand to palm the ball into the back of the net.

A great start for this Ballymac team with an away win ending in a score line of 2-10 to 2-06.

Under 17s

Our minor team faced a strong Rathmore side on a beautiful sunny day in Ballymac last Saturday. In the opening 1/4 we measured up well to the visitors but in the later stages of this half aided by a good breeze Rathmore went on a scoring spree.

Evan O Brien scored a well needed goal at the end of this half to take the bare look off the score board. We found our composure during the half time break and re-emerged a more determined side.

We battled well up to the final whistle to finish on a score of 5-18 Rathmore 2-8 to Ballymac.

First up were our gold team who put up a spirited performance against a strong side. The teams were level at halftime but the visitors had the better finishing touch and ran out Milltown/Castlemaine 2-12 to Ballymac 1-04

Our blue team was up next in what was a very competitive game with only 2 points in it at half time. Milltown/Castlemaine piled on the pressure in the second half. Both sides were evenly matched but the visitors finished the stronger and won on a score line of

Milltown/Castlemaine 4-07 to Ballymac 2-05.
