Club Senior Team

Ballymacelligott V Kenmare.

On Sunday in dry and windy conditions our Senior Men’s team faced Kenmare in Rd. 3 of the Div. 1 County league.

With The wind favouring Ballymac, we held a 4-point lead mid-way through the first half before Kenmare closed the gap to a minimum with a goal that could have quickly been followed by a second if not for a timely intervention by the Ballymac goalkeeper.

Instead Ballymac finished the half strongly with a goal of our own and go in ahead at the break on a score of 1:09 to 1:03.

The second half was a different affair with Kenmare chasing the game and Ballymac strong in defence and trying to play the ball short against the wind.

It was Ballymac who made the best of the conditions in both the first and second half and deserved the victory on a score line of 1:12 to1:07.

Well done to team and Management

Under 15 Blue Team

U15 Division 1B County League away to Kenmare.

Our under 15 boys made the trip to Kenmare on Wednesday evening last in round two of the county league. In wet and windy conditions both teams put in a great hour’s football with the home team winning by five points at the final whistle.

Goals win games and this proved to be the case with the home side hitting the net on four occasions in the hour. While we were leading by six, 1-08 to 1-02 at halftime, playing with the conditions, this proved to be not enough in second half. A feature of this game was the three 45s converted by Jack Joy in the first half, albeit with the assistance of wind.

The next game is this Wednesday evening at 615pm against Dr Crokes in Ballymac.

Team; Cian Harris, Tommy Walsh, Micheal O Connor, Matthew Rodgers, Eoghan Joy, Stephen Turner, Sam Slattery, Jack Joy, Eoin Moriarty, Padraig Reidy, Luke Silles, Michael Quirke, Ciaran O Connell, Gearoid Healy, Mairtin Mc Kivergan, Maurice Harrington, Luke Griffin, Sean Martin, Cian Gilroy.

Under 15 Gold team

Last Saturday evening we headed down to Kenmare for the 2nd time in 4 days, this time it was the turn of our gold panel.

Short a good few regular player and with been only able to play 13 a side we knew this would be an uphill battle, we had 4 u13 players who acquitted themselves very well and are fine players, we started slow and were down by 7pts after 15 mins, Kenmare were very strong through the middle of the park.

On 20mins we got our 1st score a goal from the returning Con Sheehan, great to see him back.

HT score was 3-06 to 1-01.

The second half was much closer and our lads never gave up and fought to the end, final score was

Kenmare 4-09

Ballymac 2-02.

It was also great to see Conal Savage back after his broken leg and a speedy recovery to Cian Gilroy who sustained a hand injury.

Under 13

On Sunday evening we welcomed the Firies boys to Ballymac for what were 2 very exciting games of football.

Our young Gold team were up first and enlisted the help of 6 of our U11 lads. Against a strong wind in the first half the taller Firies team had the upper hand and were able to score at will.

Despite a Shane Cassidy cracker of a goal Firies were the better side and won 5-21 to 1-00. Great games by Kyran Boyle, Jack Hobbart and Jamie Harrington to name a few. The boys are improving week after week.

Our blue team played a very strong Firies 15 in a very entertaining game. Superior fitness by Firies gave them the edge in all sectors of the field. But our lads played with great determination and never gave up. Final score 3-11 to 3-02.

Under 11/under 10

Ballymac U11/U10 boys enjoyed their football games last Thursday 7th April on the main pitch. There were two teams split by age.

Thanks to Austin Stacks for some sporting games.

Under 10’s

Our under 10 boys played Austin Stacks in Ballymac on Thursday 7th April.

The boys played well in the first half and took the lead. Sean Kelly, Tom O Neill and Tadgh Brick were in flying form.

Dara Leen and Daithi O’ Connor were strong in midfield.

The second half of the game was a different story and Stacks got the better of us. Conor Mc Carthy worked hard to get the ball. We asked players up from u9 to make up our team and they were only delighted to help us out.

Many thanks to Jack O’Connell, Daniel Maher, Mikey Brosnan and Gearóid Jones (in goals) who all played very well.

Well done to the boys and míle buíochas to Austin Stacks and their coaches for coming out to Ballymac. Thanks also to our own two referees Maurice O’Connell and Kieran Slattery. We’ll see you all at training next week.

Under 9

Our u 9 Boys continued with training on Sunday morning April 10th at the main pitch Between 11-12.
We had another good turnout which was great to see.
We hope to have some go games shortly so it’s important the players practice their skills at home
Players to impress this week at training were Sam Leen Jack o Connell Mikey Brosnan & Darragh Curran.

Academy

The wind this Sunday morning couldn’t keep our youngest Ballymac players away from the pitch. More than 30 U5’s braved the weather and embraced our very fast paced training session – aimed to keep both players and coaches warm!

Thank you to the parents and guardians who stepped in as support coaches this week. The more help we have on Sunday mornings, the more fun we can all have.

This week we started to introduce the concept of teamwork to all our young players and encouraged them to cheer on their friends as we play together.

Teamwork is a tricky concept to get to grips with for our youngest players who often just want to kick the ball as far and as high as they can. We’d encourage all parents and guardians of our U5’s to chat to them about the importance of being part of a team as over the next few weeks we’ll be doing more and more partner and team drills.

Our aim is to have them playing mini football games by the end of this season – wish us luck! We look forward to seeing you all next week.

Ladies

Senior Ladies

Match Report for Ballymac u12 Girls.

Ballymac v Austin Stacks North Kerry Div 2

Unfortunately, we started this year’s campaign with a loss away to stacks. Played on a very cold and wet night the girls got off to a great start with a quick goal. We played with the aid of a strong breeze in the first half.

With Alice Savage and Maebh o Connell flying at mid field we had good ball going in on top of Holly o Neill and Aeiden Healy. The girls showed what we have been working on in training is working but we still have loads to do.

We had great support in the back line from our two rotating goal keepers the wonderful Kate o Neil and Emma Lynch who put in great work in goals which isn’t an easy job but they were great.

We have a long season ahead which we all look forward too with excitement. All 18 girls played tonight, and all contributed which is a great achievement plus they all left happy and smiling.

Next game next Wednesday evening away to Na Gaeil at 6:30.
