Ballymac GAA v Ardfert GAA

On Sunday, in dry and ideal conditions our Senior Men’s team faced Ardfert GAA in Round 1 of the Junior Premier Championship in John Mitchels GAA grounds.

In a cagey opening period – Ballymac proved the more clinical in front of the target & lead at the break 0-8 to 0-2.

However, it was Ardfert who started the second period the stronger and brought Ballymac back to a 3-point margin when in the dying minutes – Donal Daly got the vital score to push it out to a four-point margin.

It was Ballymac who took the spoils and the opening 2 points in Group 3 of the competition with a final score line of

Ardfert GAA 0-7

Ladies News

Donal Curtin Cup Final Division 3

The Date, Time and Venue has been set.

Thursday August 4th in Fitzgerald Stadium at 7pm. All support is greatly appreciated as this is a huge day for our Ladies Team as this is another level higher than last year. The Ladies will Play Cromane.

Ladies Senior All Ireland Final

The club managed to fill two buses full of supporters from our club to go cheer on the Kerry Ladies. We were also part of the large group of local sides who wished our Ladies well as they left their last stop in Kerry on Saturday.

Hard luck to our fabulous Kerry Ladies on their defeat yesterday to Meath in Croke Park, Ladies ye did us proud and we are very proud of the effort ye put in this year and hopefully we will see ye back here again next year.

Kerry Senior football

All at Ballymac Gaa would like to congratulate the Kerry Men’s Senior team and management on a brilliant victory in the All-Ireland Senior Football Final against Galway. Sam Maguire has come back to the Kingdom, and was welcomed back with huge numbers in Tralee and All over the County.

Also on the All-Ireland day it was fabulous to see our own Ruairi Rahilly who was part of the 1997 winning Kerry team introduced to the crowd to mark 25 years since their win.

Academy

The Ballymac spirit was strong with our Academy players this Sunday. The U5’s and U7’s came together for the session to play and learn with one another. Our very youngest players really benefitted from the kindness and guidance of the experienced players. The U7’s did brilliantly incorporating the younger players into their games. An-mhaith ar fad.

Under 9 boys

Our u 9 s continued training this morning at the main pitch between 11-12 .
We welcomed new players Aodhan Mc Mahon and Mathew Scanlon to the panel and both players were quick to settle in showing some neat touches during the session.
Focus of the session this morning was on Handpassing , point scoring and getting the tackling right .
All players have shown great progress so far this year and we encourage players to keep practicing at home also .
At today’s session there was some wonderful point scoring from Daragh Curran , Mathew Scanlon , Jack o Connell Conor Mangan Sean Ireland and Rian o Connor .
There was great defending from Jason Mc Donnell, Mikey Brosnan Taylor Brosnan Callum Walsh Aodhan Mc Mahon Dara Fealy and Ryan Kelliher .
We play Dr Crokes and Spa in a Couple of weeks’ time in the last of our Go Games fixtures.

Under 13 Boys

Ballymacelligott U13 Gold team played at home today against St. Pats/Kerins o Rahilly’s. First quarter was a tight affair in what were very wet conditions, but Goals from Adrian o Connor put the Ballymac boys ahead at half time. Ballymac took control in the second half with two goals from Gearoid Joy. Outstanding performance from all the boys. final score 4.11 to 0.08

Ballymac U13 Blue v Churchill, Central Region on Thursday 11th August at 7pm in Churchill.

Health and Wellbeing

The Health and Wellbeing committee invited the Cill Dubh Girl-guides for an afternoon of learning at our training field. Thanks to Sylvia Thompson for introducing us to lots of native wildflowers, trees and biodiversity. We hope to begin a biodiversity garden going forward.

We are in the process of planning a Memory Garden at the training pitch. Anyone with an interest in gardening or who would like to get involved is most welcome. Contact Oonagh 087-7532949.

Lotto

Well done to Kerry on winning their 38th All Ireland Final. Congratulations to all the Management Team and Players, especially Paudie and David Clifford, and their maternal family the O’Shea here in Ballymac, and their grandfather Patrick O’Shea.

Bridget Leen who has 10 All Ireland Medals and Sean Hennessy Chairman of our Ladies Club, conducted the lotto draw last Monday night. Maureen O’Shea was on camera.

The numbers drawn were: 6,26,14 and 27
