Ballymac – 4-6 Spa — 3-4

Following a long summer of waiting we finally played our Co League semi final last Thursday 20th August v Spa at home in Ballymac .

We produced a strong performance to come out on top by 5 points . A very strong first half performance laid the foundations and we led by 3-4 to 0-2 at half time . The girls workrate was first class as we tackled & harried Spa for turnovers and our ability to score once we attacked was impressive . First half goals came from Cora Savage , Elle Sugrue and Emily O Donoghue, our half back line were very good in this period too with Maeve O Sullivan giving a tour de force performance and Roisin Long & Caoimhe Carroll playing very well too . Niamh Rahilly was very solid at full back in this period too well assisted by Eve and Sinead . A feature of the first half was 3 fantastic block downs by Emily O Donoghue.

The 2nd half saw Spa come back into the game a bit more , Lisa Curran put her name to 1-1 in the 2nd half & sub Catriona Somers added a point from play for us . A last minute penalty for Spa which was scored put a gloss on the score line .

A very good team performance from Robin in goals who was very solid , full back line Sinead , Niamh & Eve were very good , halfback line Caoimhe, Maeve & Roisin were excellent . Midfield of Aisling & Therese more than held their own against 2 very good players from Spa . Half forward line of Emily , Aine & Elle Mac contributed mostly through their workrate and our full forward line of Cora , Elle S and Lisa contributed 3-4 on the night ! Our subs Cait , Caroline ,Catriona, Sophie & Cathy made good contributions when introduced and non playing sub Elle Lenihan gave good support.

We await the winners of Currow & Finuge St Senans who play this Sunday coming in the final which is fixed for Sept 6th time & venue TBC . With the U13 final fixed for 15th Sept it promises to be a few busy weeks ahead !!!

CAILINI FAOI 8 & 10
