Venue: JP O’Sullivan Park, Killorglin Date: 8th June 2024
Round 10 of The County League. Ballymacelligott started without 10 of the starting fifteen in Round 1 of The County League. The ten that stepped up did so with courage, rose to the challenge, and played a mighty second half.
Both teams were level after fourteen minutes of play in Killorglin on Saturday evening. Vinnie Horan scored all three Ballymac points: one from play, a free, and a 45.
Just on the 15-minute mark, Dáire Cleary from Laune Rangers ran through from midfield and hit the back of the net. Vinnie Horan scored a point from a free. Gearóid Hassett added one for Rangers, and Michael Herlihy scored a fine point for Ballymac. Laune Rangers dominated until the final whistle, adding a goal and four points before halftime.

Ballymac held Laune Rangers scoreless until the eleventh minute of the second half. In that eleven minute, Ballymac scored 1-03. Micheál Reidy opened the half with grit and determination and scored a point and a goal within three minutes of the throw-in.
Points from Vinnie Horan and Donal Daly had the score after ten minutes Laune Rangers 2-08 Ballymac 1-08. The mid-Kerry side added two points, putting massive pressure on the Ballymac defence.
Two brilliant saves from Christy Leen in goals, within seconds of each other, were pivotal at this stage in the game. Vinnie Horan scored a point from a free. Killorglin replied. Up pops Micheál Reidy for another point, the last score of the night for Ballymac. Killorglin added two more before the final whistle.
The second half was a very positive performance from the Ballymac lads, who outscored Rangers by two points. We saw some great teamwork and some great individual performances from this committed bunch of players.

Our u9 boys played John Mitchels Sunday morning in 3 very sporting games. Thanks to John Mitchels for visiting and we look forward to returning the favour during the summer. All the boys played 3 games each and are showing great improvement as the season goes on.
Under 12 girls
Our U.12 girls played 2 challenge games (U.11’s & U.12’s) away to Na Gaeil Tuesday night.
It was great to see the girls play mostly a full game of football with each and every one giving their all.
In the older group, Alison Butler and Doireann Broderick worked really hard keeping Na Gaeil’s forwards at bay with Una Casey and Katie Lenihan running their hearts out in the forwards.
Caoimhe Leen played really well in goals and midfield for us complimented by Aime O’ Rourke and Ruby Sugrue who defended and showed for the ball all night.
A big thank you to the 4 academy girls who helped us enormously, Hannah Butler, Ciara Leen, Megan Lyons and Aoife Gilroy.
