Féile Clothes Re-Cycling Fundraiser
Ballymac GAA are holding a Clothes Re-Cycling Fundraiser in aid of Féile 2016.As you know Ballymac is hosting Three Visiting Clubs on the weekend of June 24th, 25th & 26th. The hosting of these teams is at some expense. We are holding a clothes re-cycling drive on the weekend of June 9th & 10th so as to help support Féile 2016 in our club. We are looking for all types of items of clothing, household textiles such as curtains and towels. We are also looking to collect soft toys, shoes, handbags, belts, laptops & mobile phones. This is a great way of raising funds for the club and also of taking care of our environment. For further details contact Fionnán Fitzgerald, club secretary, at 087-9860441.

FEILE 2016
There is a lot of preparation and work yet to go into getting our club grounds ready for Féile. The club is calling on everyone to help make this weekend a memorable one for our visitors and our own players. Anyone interested in helping out in anyway possible should contact Fionnán Fitzgerald, club secretary.

County League Div 2 Semi Final Na Gaeil. 4-12 Ballymac 3-3 We played our semi final game away to Na Gaeil last Tuesday. The weather was very poor with constant rain making conditions difficult to play. It took our boys 15 minutes to get up to the pace of the game at that stage Na Gaeil had raced into a 2-2 lead.

Our first point came on the twenty minute mark as Na Gaeil defense was well on top. A quick goal thereafter by us gave the lads some belief but Na Gaeil finished the half strongly to lead at half time 3-5 to 1-2. A tough talking to at half time and the boys took to the field for the second half with renewed hope of a revival.

They tried hard but wrong decision making and option choices were their downfall. Na Gaeil played a sweeper in front of our full forward line and closed out the direct route to goal. Aidan came well into this game in the second half with some great runs. Ciaran also made a number of surges up field but alas all the team efforts were in vain as they were chasing too much of a lead.

They did however manage to put just six points between the teams at the midpoint of the second half only for the Na Gaeil midfield to dominate again and pull away. A commendable effort made by the lads against strong opposition.

The game was played in good spirits a fact that was highlighted by the all round handshakes by players at the final whistle. We wish Na Gaeil all the best in the final. Our boys can take plenty of confidence from the county league and to have got to the semi final is a good result for the team.

Panel: Eoghan Kenny, James Bailey, Bryan Cassidy, Ciaran Brosnan, Adam Joy, Adam Kelly, Tim Polman Daamen, Darragh Sweeney, Cian Godley, Dylan Dunne Moriarty, Darragh Broderick, Denis Brosnan, Jonathan Lowe, Dara Leen, Aidan o’ Brien, Sean Horan, Sean Polman Daamen.

County League U14 Div 10
For the first in the Clubs history Ballymac entered 2 teams in the U 14 Co. League.  The U 14B team competed in Division 10 and went through their group matches undefeated except for a loss ealier in the campaign away to Dr. Crokes B.

After this defeat the team upped their performances to reach a semi final where they defeated Firies B.  In the final they came up against Dr. Crokes who had earlier defeated them in the campaign.

On a beautiful evening in Lewis Road, Killarney the team kept their best performance until last to win the trophy on a score line of 6-13 to 2 – 3.  Adam O Keeffe accepted the trophy on behalf of the team.  A special mention must go to team coaches Jeremiah Lynch and Dave Slattery whose work with these lads has seen an improvement with every game. Roll on Feile.

Blue Team
Our blue team travelled to Glenflesk on Sunday to take on the home side in the first round of the division one county league. Glenflesk got off to a great start scoring 2 goals in the first 7 mins , but great credit to our lads who fought back straight away to level the game after 14 minutes of play.

From here we started to dominate the game and this continued until half time. At this point we led by 12 pts with goals from Gary Lynch and James Kenny. In the second half we continued to play well and in the first 10 minutes we outscored Glenflesk by 5 points to 4. However Glenflesk rallied with 2 quick goals but with Mossie Brennan, Luke O’ Connell, and Jamie Sugrue on fire the in defence, and 2 brilliant saves from Kieran Slattery we kept Glenflesk at bay.

We eventually ran out 5-17 to 4-11 winners. Thanks to all parents for their support and great credit to the team for an inspirational performance.
