KERRY LADIES DEVELOPMENT SQUAD UNDER 11

Pride of place this week goes to our 4 Ballymac girls Cora Savage, Catriona Sommers, Emily O Donoghue and Roisin Long who were part of the Kerry U11 Development Squad who were victorious in a tournament held in Clare on Saturday last.

This is a great achievement by the girls and well done also to all the coaches who have trained the girls in the past number of years.

COISTE NA NOG

FAOI 16: Our U16’s will play their last game of the season next Sunday against John Mitchels in Coiste Trá Li final at 12 noon. We have no venue yet but keep an eye on our website for more details.

JOHN MITCHELS 3-11 BALLYMAC 0-9

A windy and rain swept Currow was the venue for this Castleisland district final in which our opponents were John Mitchels.

This was always going to be a difficult task for us and the conditions certainly didn’t help our cause. Playing with the aid of a strong wind Mitchels settled quickly and were five points ahead inside ten minutes.

Dara Keane got us off the mark with two pointed frees. Mitchels scored two more points while Dara Keane and Barry Lyons pointed for us. Just as it looked like we were coming more into the game a defensive mistake let our opponents in for a goal followed by a point to leave the half time score Mitchels 1-9 Ballymac 0-4.

With the wind at our backs there was hope of a better second half performance. These hopes were quickly dashed as Mitchels goaled again with their first attack of the second half . Liam O’Brien, Dara Keane and Josh scored points but in attempting to clear our goals another defensive mistake gifted the Mitchels a goal.

Midway through the half we were 3-9 to 0-8 behind. We needed goals now and these did not come.
Mitchels adding two more points and Barry completing the scoring for us. Davy Rodgers, Dara Keane, Josh ,Tadhg, Barry, Cathal, and the outstanding Dara Leen were best for us on a disappointing day.

Team : B Lonergan, D Nolan, C Dunne, C Godley, L O Brien (0-1) J O Keeffe (0-1) D. Leen, T Brick (capt) J. Mcdonnell, C Gallagher, D Rodgers, C Nolan, D Chawke, B. Lyons(0-2) D Keane (0-5)subs D Broderick, D Lynch, D McHugh, J. Carmody, J. Sugrue, D. Lynch, E Leahy, D Dunne, E Culloty,.

We play Mitchels again in the final of Coiste Tra-Li league this Wednesday evening in Ballyseedy

FAOI 12: Ballymac Gold Team 5-12 Currow B 4-08

Last Friday night we played Currow in the final of Castleisland District League in Castleisland Desmonds pitch. Currow came into this as the favourites as they had previously beaten us in the league stage.

We started brightly and raced into a 2-02 to 0-01 lead after ten minutes. Currow came back at us and with twenty minutes gone we were leading by just one point on a score line of Ballymac 2-04 Currow 2-03. We put over four points before the break to leave us leading by five.

We started the second half again in great form and put 1-2 on the score line without reply. Now Currow got going and with their constant pressure they pulled us back to a four point lead.

Up stepped our lads and great credit must be given to them as they showed great heart and determination in the final five minutes to win by seven points in the end.

Our captain on the night was Adam O’ Keefe and he gave a wonderful speech where he thanked coaches, referee, his teammates also he thanked Currow for a great game & Castleisland District Board before he lifted the Trophy aloft to great cheers for everyone.

As this was our last game of the season coaches Jack Culloty, Liam Joy, Fintan Kelly & Jer Lynch would like to thank all the players for their commitment and dedication through out the season and also to Eddie o Connell & Gene o Keefe who helped out on a number times over the course of the year.
