NEXT weekend, Round 1 of the Garveys SuperValu Senior County Football Championship will throw in at grounds around Kerry.
On Friday evening, players representing most of the clubs and districts made their way to a sunny Austin Stack Park for the launch of this year’s championship.

Eamonn Fitzmaurice was there with Chairman of the County Board Pat O’Sullivan and Kevin McCarthy of Garvey’s Supervalu who are delighted to continue the support of the championship this year.
Representing Tralee area sides were Wayne Guthrie (Austin Stacks), Danny O’Sullivan (Kerins O’Rahilly’s) and Paul McMahon (St Brendans).
Also there were, inter-county stars Donncahdh Walsh (Mid-Kerry), Johnny Buckley (Dr Crokes) and Marc Ó Sé (West Kerry).
The opening round has pitted Kerins O’Rahillys against champions South Kerry in what will be one of the ties of the weekend. That match is the second in a double header with St Brendans who play Kenmare District Board.
Austin Stacks will face East Kerry at a double header in Lewis Road, Killarney that also features Dr Crokes v West Kerry.
Eight clubs and eight districts will do battle with the looming threat of the trap door there for clubs.
